Can You Trust a Dating Site Review Site?

January 25th, 2008

If you’re anxious to find the love of your life, but you’re skeptical about online dating, you may have found yourself looking up reviews on the many, many dating sites available.  You read what others have said and you look to see if there are certain sites which are more successful than others.

But can you trust a word you see on these sites?

You’re wise to question what you read on the internet. Because anyone can build a website, the quality of writing can often be lacking – causing you to find information that’s out of date or simply wrong.  Here are some things you should look at when you’re looking at an online dating review site.

Who’s sponsoring the site? – If you see a lot of ads for a particular online dating service as well as a high review for that particular site, you might want to be wary.  That dating website might be paying them to post a positive review, which may or may not be accurate.

Is there a range of reviews? – If all the reviews are positive, how are you going to find a dating site that’s right for you?

What are the criteria for reviews? – Look to see what the website is judging the dating sites is basing their recommendations on.  If the criteria are similar to what you are asking yourself, you might be at a reasonable website.

In the end, your experience is going to be the best review for a dating site, so check out free trials and see what suits you and your love life.

I like to read the reviews and to hear what other people think about a particular dating site – especially people who are regular members. Often there are many things that are not explained clearly when you sign-up for some website, and I prefer to know what the experiences of others might be. If there are a lot of bad comments, I have to admit it does put me off. But then with human nature being what it is, most people only bother to comment if there is something bad to say.

There must be thousands of dating sites out on the web. I did some research and found datingsitedirect.com to be a good place to start. Many sites are just affiliate doorways to other sites. And then some are just riddled with advertising to the point where it’s almost unreadable.
