A Direct Way to Find a Date!
DatingDirect.com is a UK focused dating site, although it is open to international members. They boast over 3 million active members.
The site can be navigated with ease. Simply input which country you are in, who you are looking for and where, and your matches will appear. If you are not keen on long-distance relationships, a handy feature is being able to specify your postal code, so that you can narrow your search to people who live within a reasonable distance.
Most of the picture profiles are of good quality, and all content is moderated before appearing on the web site, so you shouldn’t be presentened with content that’s offensive or in bad taste.

Since the change over of the site to the new better facility i have lost all ability to search. It says that there are no matches yet I have tried to search with an extensive match and with an open match setting. If this is improving the service then I think I need to change. It also says that you can contact them but there is no link, so how do I tell them of the problem?

I think that DatingDirect.com might have more members subscribe if they can have access to a customer service. There is no contact on the site and when I have gone to FAQs to contact them that way, I discovered that you first have to subscribe.
Since I am having trouble paying a subscription and wanted to know if it is possible to take card payments over the phone as I have used this payment method with another dating site.

How on earth does one terminate being a member on DatingDirect? This is not good. They should have a simple un subscribe button. One can’t email them either.

It is pretty much impossible to find out how to contact them if there is a problem. The premier plus service also isnt what they advertise.

I wanted to sign up for 1 month. I decided to pay with Paypal. At no point in the procedure was I given the choice of 1,3 or 6 months and I unwittingly ended up paying for 6 months. I could not contact them as there is no email. I wrote a letter to the one address on the site - no response. I contacted Paypal to stop any further payments - OK no problem there. I have just received an email from DD saying that as I have stopped future payments, they have closed my account!!! This is after 1 week of a supposedly 6 month contract!!! I’m finding it very hard to retain my composure, I understand fully why there are no contact details. DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE, THEY WANT YOUR MONEY AND CARE ABOUT NOTHING ELSE. IT IS A SCAM.

Since the site has moved over to the new look I can’t put in my personal details correctly, as far as height goes it is still giving the old option (i.e. 5ft5 - 5ft8) which is what I fall into (I’m actually 5ft7) but a woman recently asked me if I’m 5ft4 and told me that is the height my profile is saying and I have no way to change it. This is seriously having an affect on the amount of emails I’m getting and there is nothing I can do about it as there is no way to contact them. With a website a complex as DD it is obvious there are going to be problems and what good is it when there is no customer service email at all. Very frustrated and upset with this terrible service. I would avoid DD if I were somebody considering joining.

I agree with all of the above comments!
There are a substantial number of negative comments about Dating Direct on other review sites. All of the comments are since Dating Direct “revamped” the site in June 2007
The site has no “contact us” option although the T&C’s say there is. There is no option to cancel membership and withdraw your profile. A considerable number of the people I have looked at have not visited the site in excess of 3 months. Some have stated their age in their written profile but the system auto updates people’s ages…..many are from 3 years ago.
I am having huge difficulties in cancelling the auto-renew and will probably have to cancel my credit card to avoid further payments being made. This is a problem I have read about on other review sites of Dating Direct.
The search options do not work accurately, I have discovered people by modifying my options who should have appeared in other searchs.
When writing emails to people the site does not always accept keystrokes and it takes ages to write an email. The keys often have to be pressed 5,6,7 times before the letter appears on the screen.
I would STRONGLY urge anyone considering joining Dating Direct to look elsewhere.

Was once an excellent site. Now steer well clear. You cannot leave once joined. You cannot contact them.

For everyone who wants to delete their account, here’s how!
Log into your account and then paste this link into your browser http://www.datingdirect.com/myaccount/myunsubscription.php
Hope that has helped you out!

Thank you so much Dicky, someone just registered an account using my email address and as there’s no way of contacting anyone to rectify or report it to, I’ve been searching for a way to delete the account.
You’re a star!

Thanks for the link above will be using it immediately to cancel my membership - agree with all comments this site is a scam and while I used to reccommend it I now warn people about it!
I have just joined mysinglefriend.com so much better and really good value.

Everything seemed to be ok with the site until I tried to pay, then it refused all methods. As others have commented, there is no contact number or email and no link on the questions page so as a last resort, I altered my message on my profile to ask if anyone else had this problem and, guess what, they have thrown me out!! Don’t they want my money? How strange for such a huge organisation, taking enormous amounts of money (or should be) to have no point of contact. Very dodgy I say.

Iam SOOO angrywithdatingdirect!
Just as I was getting into the idea of online dating, I receive an email saying that my username was offensive so they had closed my account! The last time I checked the name elizabeth wasn’t highly offensive or risque!
When I tried to contact them I found absolutely no email address anywhere! The FAQ section doesn’t load on a mac. I have ended up feeling extremely frustrated and proven right that online dating isn’t the way for me!

I have just had a similar problem, two payments in one month from my credit card, is there a whistle blower we can contact? I am going to cancel my credit card to prevent them doing this again. Isn’t it illegal to not have customer service on such a large site?

I was a member and inadvertently deleted my membership number and couldn’t remember my password and email address created specifically for Dating Direct and not used for any other purpose. I contacted them on their old site and was told that for security purposes they couldn’t send me my membership number and that I should rejoin. As I only had around 15 days membership left, I rejoined and paid for a further 6 months. Since then they have continued to collect £9.99 per month for my old account which they know I cannot use! Now the site has changed there is no email address or anyway of contacting them to get my money back. Is is legal for them to have no way of conatacting them?
August 22nd, 2007 at 12:29 pm
There is a way to contact them but I think it has only recently appeared. Go into the “Help” section and the “My Active Pass” part. In blue there is a link for problems the FAQ does not answer. This takes you to a page you can send an email on.

I subscribed to Dating Direct today. Went for the one month option. Once I realised they’d automatically re-bill me the following month, I began looking for the option to cancel it (the rebilling). I then discovered that there is no such option, even though they give directions to it in their help section. After about 15 minutes of frustrating searching, I clicked on a box that I thought might take me to the desired section, but no… it got me billed instantly for another 6 months! I phoned my bank, but they couldn’t stop the payments, although they did find me an address to write to. It is possible to contact them via the site as long as you’re not signed in. They give you two options in a drop-down menu, neither to do with what I wanted.

STEER CLEAR OF THIS SITE
Once you have set up a profile it is almost impossible to remove it (thanks to Dicky, above, for the tip on how to remove - finally!). You will not find an unsubscribe button anywhere on the site. This is how the site manages to retain such a high number of subscribers.
Furthermore, the site is set up to automatically take money from your account once your membership lapses. You are not given the choice when you set up your membership. If you have already joined, visit your account details and remove the option for a payment to be taken automatically. It’s a long-winded process but worth it.
This is a highly unethical site that uses bad business practice and is probably breaking the law in several places.

They should put an unsubscribe button on the site on the homepage. Thanks a lot for dicky for the link to cancel. Websites like this should be banned. I joined, which was fine and then upgraded to premier plus or something and that was another £60. The old website was much clearer and concise. Now you get bamboozled with \”someone has looked at you\” every day in emails. I would recommend not joining this site - maybe try mysinglefriend.com.

This is a diabolical website. Notwithstanding all the previous comments about being unable to subscribe, it is overloaded with fake profiles placed there by romance scammers from Nigeria, so now you know where their millions of members are made up from. Believe me, I know, I had first hand experience and was left out of pocket, broken hearted and now suffering with depression. I know many more who have had the same experience there. My advice is to be very careful or better still.. avoid the site altogether.

Not being able to delete our profiles on this site has started to ruin the relationship we have, we did meet through the old site. I want to get in contact with Dating Direct to discuss this before we take it further!
October 4th, 2007 at 3:30 am
I have just found this review site as I was also getting very frustrated with not being able to cancel my account! I am surprised to find that so many other people have had the same problem. Tried e-mailing their customer service several times and just get an automated response which is no use atall. I was a member on DD before it changed and it was a good site then. Thanks to Dicky I have now cancelled my account..phew! Have tried Match.com who are very good and have a phone number so you can contact them directly with any problems.
Good luck to everyone else out there…

I am absolutely disgusted at how difficult they make it to be able to contact Dating Direct and to delete my profile from their site. I guess the reason for that is so that they can continue to keep lots of active profiles and make as much money as possible.
I am still trying to delete my profile from this site. Can anyone advise how this is done?
December 13th, 2007 at 7:33 am
Thanks Dickie! I only think I like the idea of online dating then, straight away loose patience and think narrr. I look for the beloved unsubscribe button to cleanly finish the nonsense, and low and behold Dating Direct don’t have one - there’s a scam. This is singly the most important button to me on the whole site.
Has any one ever thought about starting a dating agency for the likes of me who love unsubscribing from them.. Probably best not for it to be internet based?

DatingDirect.com has no possible means of contacting anyone. It’s just a website and you cannot email, phone or get a message to anyone who runs it. I have replied to their standard emails 3 times asking them to delete my details and my profile as I am now in a relationship. They are ignored. I am very reluctant to part with money to an organization that you are unable to speak to or contact.
January 8th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Can someone help, i have paid my money but can not get onto the site, i have to be on the site to e-mail them of any problems.
January 10th, 2008 at 6:51 am
The postal address for Dating Direct can be found here. If my opinion matters why are they not doing any thing to improve their service. With so many unhappy people on it, I am sure if they sorted the problems out it would be a good site.
February 11th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
In spite of not having paid for a subscription, and trying to delete my profile by entering my details, I get a message saying profile name and password have been entered incorrectly - a blatant lie. I’m relieved it’s not just me…
February 29th, 2008 at 6:18 am
Thanks Dickie! I have now deleted my account! (Any one else looking to do so should scroll up and use the link from Dickie’s comment) My message to anyone is also steer well clear of this site, for that matter ANY site that you have to pay a fee to but doesn’t have a phone number to contact them on in case of problems. I had trouble paying and now realize that that was a blessing.
My advice to anyone out there who was put off online dating; don’t be - there are many reputable sites out there, you can find them no trouble and use this experience as a learning one. Also from the comments here there are many like minded people out there.

I went to the link that Dickie said to delete my account on Datingdirect, but on that page I enter my username and password (which are obviously correct because I logged in to the site) it says they are incorrect. What do I do? Please help!

I’ve been unable to log on for past 2 days. Each time I’m told my ID/password is not recognised which is rubbish because they’ve sent me the same details I trying to log on with! Can someone tell me what is going on?
April 17th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
I agree with everything that’s been written on here. I was a subscriber for about 2 months and got totally annoyed with sending emails to someone that I thought lived within 50 miles, to find out that they lived 2,000 miles away! One person I emailed lived in London but her profile said Aberdeen, (she tried to change it but couldn’t) emailed the site and got an automated email back about something completely different!.. Keep well clear from Dating Direct. Don’t be put off by internet dating sites though. Just Google it before you subscribe, and see what people think. Hopefully it will save people from throwing their money and hearts away.
