Now, before you start panicking, I have some good news for you. Not only can you get men noticing you, you can actually take proactive steps to start turning heads every day. The best part is, you don’t even need to spend a penny to start doing it. With the right combination of eye contact, body language and touch, you can get under a guy’s skin so fast that he won’t know what hit him!

Eye Contact

Throughout the ages, the most lusted-after women have understood the importance of eye contact. Cleopatra, the Egyptian seducer of Mark Antony and Julius Caesar, was famed for the colorful makeup she used to highlight her eyes. This was not an accident: directing a man’s attention to your eyes is one of the most effective ways to get him to notice you. However, you cannot initiate the eye contact yourself, as that can come across as desperate or even manipulative. Instead, you have to get a guy to initiate eye contact with you. The best way to do this is to use eye makeup; like Cleopatra, use eye makeup (mascara, eye shadow) that brings out your eye color. For example, if you have blue eyes, use brown eye shadow, as it will bring out the blue eyes. Once you have caught a guy in your gaze, hold eye contact for a few seconds: this will show him your confidence, and arouse his curiosity.

Body Language

Once you have caught a man’s eye, you can hold his attention with your body language. The single most important thing to remember about body language is to always maintain good posture. Good posture means standing with your back straight and your shoulders held high. One technique that can help you develop good posture is to stand with your back against the wall so that your feet, butt, shoulders and head, are all touching the wall. Once you have lined your body up against the wall, try maintaining the exact same posture as you walk away from the wall. If you notice yourself starting to slouch, position yourself against the wall again, and start over. Once you are comfortable walking with your back straight, make a conscious effort to do it as much as possible out in public. If you do it correctly, men will take notice.

Touch

Of all the tactics you can use to get a man’s attention, none is riskier (or more rewarding) than using physical touch. Naturally, before you try this strategy, you need to know how to do it properly. The key to maintaining a man’s attention with touch is to be subtle, and to make sure he already has some interest before you make a move. Do not, under any circumstances, try touching a man you have not yet been speaking with; doing this enough is sure to earn you a reputation you do not want. Instead, when you have been talking to a man for a while, try touching him on the shoulder to emphasize a point. For example, if you and a guy are talking about musicians, and he mentions the name of a band that he likes, you can touch both of his shoulders emphatically as you mention that you like that band too. If done correctly, this will not only hold the man’s attention, but get him interested in you as well.

Of course, getting a guy to notice you is hardly an exact science. While the strategies mentioned above are great places to start, they are not the be all and end all of getting noticed. Naturally, your use of clothes, fragrances and makeup will play a role as well. However, if you want to go out tonight start turning heads as quickly as possible, you can’t go wrong with the potent combination of eyes, posture and touch.

1. Her gaze is always on you

If she can’t seem to take her eyes off you, she probably finds you attractive. Observe her gaze. Do her eyes seem to linger when she looks at you? Does she position her body in such a way so that she can keep her eyes on you? As an experiment, try moving to a different area of the room and see if her eyes follow you. These are sure female body language indications that she is interested in you and that you should introduce yourself. Also, pay attention to whether or not she holds eye contact with you during conversation instead of looking around the room or at her friends.

2. She points her feet in your direction

Whether she’s sitting or standing, take a look at the direction of her feet. A woman who is attracted to you will point her lower body in your direction. It is effectively a signal that says ‘I would like to go in this direction’.

3. She does things to get you to notice her

If she takes an unnecessarily long route to get somewhere and happens to pass by you, this indicates that she wants you to notice her. For example, she might deliberately pass by you on the way to the restroom even though the restroom is nowhere near you. This is a very clear invite and signals that she wants your attention.

4. She preens herself

When a woman knows you’ve observed her she’ll make a quick effort to look her best for you. She may do this by straightening her skirt of smoothing her hair. These female body language actions are often subconscious, though, so she may not even realize that she’s doing it.

5. She touches her hair

Most women are very particular about their hairstyle because it is one important way women show off their beauty. The way a woman touches or flicks her hair can be a sign that she is interested. If you see her tossing her hair back seductively or twirling and fondling her hair while looking in your direction, she is flirting with you for sure.

6. She laughs at your jokes

Once you approach her, tell her a funny story and pay attention to her reaction. If she openly laughs then she is probably into you. If she is interested in you, she will also listen intently as you speak and it will be apparent through her body language (head tilted, eyes focused, etc.).

7. She strokes herself or an object

Signs of interest or attraction also include enactment of sexually stimulating activities. For example, a woman might caress her arms, leg or face if she feels an attraction for you. This can mean ‘I would like to stroke you like this’ or ‘I would like you to stroke me like this’. Objects held may be also used in enactment displays which include stroking a wine glass, cigarette or any other object in close proximity.

8. She mirrors you

When a woman finds you attractive, you may be able to detect signs of mirroring which involves her mimicking your body language. This is an unconscious body language behavior and a definite indication that she is interested. Some examples of mirroring are taking a drink together or leaning back against the chair at the same time. She may also rest an elbow on the table at the same time as you or try to match the speed and tone of your voice. Pay close attention to see if she mimics your behavior in any way for signs of sexual attraction.

9. She moves in closer

If she feels attracted to you, she’ll sit or stand closer to you. Another great sign that a woman is flirting with you is that she moves in closer and closer and you continue to converse with her. She does this to show a desire to create more intimacy while between the two of you. Another trick she might use is to lower her voice so that you have to move in closer to her to hear what she’s saying. When you see her doing this, you’re receiving a definite sign of attraction and interest.

10. She touches you often

If a woman touches you during conversation it is another indication of her interest in you. This can be a simple touch on the hand or knee. Generally, the more intimate the touch and the longer it lasts the more she is interested.

Most body language experts like to apply the “Rule of Four” when determining if a woman is signaling attraction, so be alert for at least four of the above such indications. If she displays five or more signs of interest, you have definitely captured her attention and can be confident that she finds you attractive. Keep in mind, however, that even if some of the above body language signals are present, she could just be interested in keeping you as a friend so always be polite and respect her space.

It seems that the “Instant Attraction” videos are getting a lot of things right because their methods employ a lot of research into the psychology of attraction. They spent a lot of time looking at why two different men can have such disparity in their ability to attract women, even when they are of equal attractiveness. What Mark Sing, the creator of the Instant Attraction videos, has learned is that men must employ a certain psychology and thought process to attract women easily. His method employs steps that men who attract women easily are using already, and Sing is proud of the fact that he took the time to do a lot of research on what works when trying to attract women.

The videos have been so successful that psychologists are now studying them to get better insight into male/female attraction psychology. I think that fact alone makes it pretty clear that Sing and his videos are onto something!

• An asymmetrical sitting position – Sitting on the diagonal toward a person is an indication of interest. Sometimes women will cross their legs with the foot on top pointing right at the man she’s interested in.
• She licks her lips – Women often lick their lips without even realizing it when she an attractive man.
• His eyebrows are raised – Men often raise their eyebrows when making eye contact with a woman they’re attracted to.
• He’ll stand tall with his muscles tight – Consider this the female equivalent of holding in your stomach.
• Mirroring – People who are flirting tend to mirror each other’s movements. If one person leans in to say something, the other leans in to hear it.
• Pupils – When we like someone we’re talking to, our pupils dilate.
• She plays with her hair – This is one of the most common ways a woman gives away that she’s interested. Men may also smooth their hair or adjust their tie.

Pay attention to the body language you’re giving and receiving the next time you’re out. It may be much easier to figure out who is interested in you… and to let them know that you’re interested too.

So when it comes to online flirting, what can you do to ensure you’re not offending anyone, yet still being cool and seductive?

Make sure you’re rereading what you send to someone – Those notes that you send off spontaneously are the ones that will get you in the most trouble. Read and reread what you’re sending before you push that send button.

Even better, have someone else read it – If you have a friend that you trust, have them read the email as well. They’ll be able to tell you if you need to reword something or if you need to strike something completely out of the email itself.

Use email ‘softeners’ – That’s right, you have full permission to use smiley faces and ‘ha ha’ to make sure anything that’s supposed to be funny comes across as funny. ‘Just kidding’ is another good way to make sure your intentions are clear.

Be overly flirtatious – You could also take the route of being overly flirtatious by using cheesy pick up lines and lovey dovey quotes. This way, the other person will laugh to themselves, knowing the meaning, but not really knowing if you mean it or if you don’t….mysterious person that you are.

Practice, practice, practice – Chances are good that even if you do follow this advice, you’re going to run into troubles and mess up from time to time. Instead of beating yourself up over flirting mistakes, learn from them.

That said, there are some more simple ways to make yourself a seductive star – and they’re easy to start right now. You can even seduce your boss, if you like, into giving you a raise.

These tips are that good.

Realize They’re Just as Nervous – When you start to realize that the other person is just as nervous as you are, you will begin to relax. And that’s seductive in and of itself. Just by allowing yourself to be cool and collected, you will look like you have a secret that they want to uncover.

Pattern Yourself After the Other – This one is a bit trickier because you don’t want to come off as being overly annoying or OCD. What you want to do is to subtly mirror the other person’s movements and expressions. That is, if they lean to the left, you want to lean to the left. If they’re smiling, you should smile, etc. This helps make the other feel like they’re more comfortable and in the presence of someone similar to them, which puts them at ease.

Let It All Go – Yes, you might have just said something stupid, but you’re going to look less attractive if you continue to dwell on it or continuously bring up your faux pas. Instead, make sure to let small things go and move on. This shows your comfort level with the other person, plus it helps you stop sweating the small stuff!

Men and women take note, it’s not about the car you drive – it’s about the little things that set you apart from the rest.

Don’t be Available all the Time – While you want to make sure you’re saying yes to dates, you don’t want to tell them that you’re available for the next two weeks at anytime or any place. That just makes you look desperate. Instead, show them that there are certain times you are available, but other times you have a life. They don’t have to know that you and your cat have a standing cuddle date or that you want to watch Bruce Willis movies by yourself.

A Few Buttons Undone… – If you want to keep them guessing, it’s not about showing some skin, it’s about showing what might be underneath your clothing. Keep your outfit choices chose to your figure, and maybe unbutton one too many buttons. But then cover up the skin with something else, like a scarf or a jacket to keep your modesty. Don’t worry, their imagination will figure out what you’re not showing off.

Find a Titillating Topic of Conversation – Don’t be boring with small talk and chit chat. You want to talk about something that makes them remember you long after you’ve both gotten home. Pick a few questions that might start off an exciting conversation – and don’t get hell bent on them answering ‘right.’ This is supposed to be fun, after all. A game of ‘Would You Rather…’ is a great way to be irresistible. Here’s an example, “Would you rather be really tall or really short?” The answers you give then need to be supported by an explanation.

When you’re out on date with someone, flirting is almost too easy. You simply touch their arm, laugh at all their jokes, etc. They know that you’re into them without your having to say it. But when you’re online, things change. You don’t have that face to face time at first, which can limit the ‘woo’ factor that keeps new relationships exciting.

You need to start flirting in the virtual world:

• Compliments still go a long way – By taking the time to notice things about the person you like, you can compliment them honestly to make them blush.
• Pay attention to them – Respond to your emails and make sure you show up for chat times. This shows that you care and that you’re interested in pleasing them.

The way you and your partner move reveals how you’re feeling about your relationship at a deeper level. See Reading Body Language in Depth, for some general ideas about the subject.

To test this out, I went to my local pub last night to do some people-watching.

The first couple I noticed was a man and a woman sitting at the bar. Seated side-by-side, they gave the impression of being quite into each other. They weren’t rigid, but openly turned face-to-face. Many of their gestures crossed into the ‘personal space’ of the other…getting close, but never quite touching. Maybe they were on a date! They smiled and laughed. And you could just tell they wanted to be close to one another.

Another couple, seated at a table next to me, also appeared to be very much in sync. They did some ‘mirroring’….(psychological theories suggest ‘mirroring’ another’s body language strengthens relations with them)….but it didn’t seem like something they did on purpose.

She would lean in…..then he would lean in.
She would put her arm back…..then he would put his arm back.
He would touch his hair…..then she would play with her hair.
And on, and on.

Though they weren’t sitting as close to each other as the people at the bar (these two were across from each other), they intently looked one another in the eyes while speaking. They smiled and laughed in a relaxed manner. And their ease with each other made it seem as if they had been together for a long time.

Outside a few people walked by. But the only couple I saw didn’t look too happy. A man with a frown was walking just ahead of his female companion, who hurried to keep up with him – her head to the ground! While they may or may not have been a romantic couple, their body language (i.e. head down & frown) indicated that they were not terribly close to one another (as friends or anything else for that matter!) at that particular moment.

Checking out body language is a fun experiment anyone can try.

Next time you go out, look around you. See what kind of signals people actually give off.
