Taking Your Love on Vacation

January 31st, 2007

A new way to approach online dating is to begin on the actual site, but then meet up for a fun activity that will allow you to interact with potential mates. And while this doesn’t seem like anything new, these activities aren’t limited to mixers and other social events – they’re heading on cruises and out to exotic locales to see if love is truly in the air in a vacation type setting.

When you step outside of your everyday life, you get to try new things and in doing so, you might be able to be more open to potential mates. Without the distractions of your life, you aren’t going to make excuses about going out and you’re not going to stay at home by yourself.

These dating vacations can be slightly more expensive than heading to the local singles night at your favorite bar, but they’re really a better opportunity to focus on what you really want: a partner.

You can start by talking with various online daters and then all meeting up on a cruise type setting, allowing you to bring your conversations into real life to see if any connection is there. And with fun activities that are specially designed to hook up singles, you’ll have so much fun that you may even forget to be nervous.

In the end, a singles vacation is something that takes you outside of the norm and allows you to be more relaxed when meeting other people. And even if you don’t meet someone new, you might find new friends that you will meet with outside of the cruise. Or maybe you’ll just pick up a new fondness for dance lessons.

Found the right one? What do you do now?

December 13th, 2006

While other dating websites focus on getting you to meet Mr. or Miss Right, what do you do if you’ve already found them? You need a strategy for making sure that you’re giving your relationship the best chance it can have.

  • Do unto others – While this phrase might seem cliched by now, you really need to remember that the things you like are also probably the things that your new partner likes. For example, if you like doors held open for you or a date that shows up on time, why not provide them with the same behavior?
  • Remember the date – Things like birthdays anniversaries, and holidays become special times to celebrate with someone else. Try to use these specials days to your relationship advantage. Buy small gifts or write a meaningful card – every little bit helps.
  • Make them smile – While life isn’t always happy and exciting, making sure to keep the humor in your relationship will do more than you think is possible. Try to keep some problems or complaints to yourself so that you can focus on the positives in the world as well as your relationship.
  • Get away from each other – You don’t have to spend every waking hour together and it’s generally good advice not to. Try to have your own separate interests outside of your relationship in order to keep things exciting.

Having a Fun Halloween With Your Date

October 30th, 2006

Instead of doing the same old-same old out on your next date, why not spice things up this holiday season? Dating should be fun and exciting, so going on a date on a holiday can only mean that you’re guaranteed a good time.

Try going to the local haunted houses to get a bit of a scare. There’s nothing like a little screaming to get your endorphins moving and get you closer to your date. You’ll get to see how they act when they’re out in an unfamiliar situation – which can actually say a lot about their character. If they can play along with the night, they’re probably laid back and a lot of fun, even when it’s not a holiday.

Or you could always find a party to go to, costumes and all. Even if only one of you knows the hosts of the part, that will make the night more about getting to know your date and how he or she interacts with strangers. You will also get some fun ‘getting to know you’ time in as others ask questions of your date or your self.

Another fun thing to do is to go to a corn maze as a way to celebrate the ghoulish night and have a unique experience. Once you’re done or completely give up finding your way, you can sit and talk about what you’re done over hot apple cider and a few cinnamon donuts.
