You have a strategy for everything in your life – moving, your job, your schedule, etc. But when it comes to dating, we seem to think that having a strategy somehow takes the ‘fun’ out of it. However, if you’re spending more nights alone than you might like, maybe it’s time to stop hoping for love and to start scoping for love.
Using a strategy.
While different strategies have worked for different people, there are many that have been used time and time again with success. Online dating is a complicated process, but here’s what you need to do to get started. We’ll cover some other techniques next week too.
Be specific – When you’re trying to find a dating site, try to find one that caters to your specific likes (and dislikes). This isn’t about finding a person to date; this search should be about finding THE person who you want to spend time with.
Positivity matters – Focus on what you want, as opposed to what you don’t want. You want prospective people you date to think you’re a happy and outgoing person who looks for the good in everything… unless you’re on a dating site that wants you to be negative.
Showcase your talents and hobbies – Don’t be afraid to talk about what you can do. This is something that will set you apart from the rest of the crowd.

In this festive time of year, it’s only natural to want to find someone to share it with. And if you’ve been single for a while, you might be anxious to finally find ‘the one’ that you will fall in love with.
But is it that easy?
When you are dating, you need to recognize that finding someone and falling in love with someone are not necessarily one and the same. While you might want to be with someone and do all of the right things to attract them, this does not guarantee that you will find the right person.
You need to begin to ask yourself if you are ready to dating at all. This question becomes all the more important when you haven’t dated in a while or when you’ve had a particularly bad breakup recently. If either of these are the case, you need to begin by working on yourself and your issues before you can let someone else in.
This means taking a few moments to consider your role in the demise of your previous relationship. What could you have done better or differently? In addition, you need to look at your exes to see what they have in common and what you want in a new partner that is the same or that is different.
You also need to realize that falling in love might be an instant thing, but a relationship is not. In order to make a real relationship work, you need to spend time nurturing it with communication and with a concentrated focus.
Not everyone is ready for love, but that doesn’t mean they will never be. It just might take a little longer.

Just when you thought you had enough questions to answer on an online dating site, SelectSmart.com and Vajoe.com come along to ask you about your political affiliation and ideas. These online sites are taking the main idea of online dating and matching you up with the best candidate for you – rather than matching you up with someone to spend your Friday night with.
Okay, so you’re not going to find the love of your life, but you are going to answer questions about what you feel about abortion, immigration, taxes, same sex marriage, etc. This is going to help decide which candidate right now should get your vote in the next presidential election.
But, in a sense, you are trying to set up a ‘date’ with the next presidential election. You want to know what the candidates have to offer before you make your final choice. And if you’re not sure what you want, these websites can help you pick the right person for your beliefs and your current living situation.
Even if you have no idea who is running or what they stand for, you can get an inside look at their ideas and beliefs to help you start making up your mind.
Your love life doesn’t have to stop during the election year, but you might want to think about other candidates for your country too. Your love life can wait for one night. Online dating apparently isn’t just for love; it’s for matching up with the right leader too.
