Too deceptive, should disclose pricing upfront, none of this "three day trial" nonsense.

Was disturbed that I was getting chat request from women in their 20s and not in the same country. Also don't understand why they'd charge guys $50 and ladies are free. Too many completely obvious fake/inactive profiles and constant requests to sign up, even after I cancelled and told them to stop sending me email.

Don't waste your time or money guys. Girls, you're free so have all the fun you want.

This site has been a real let down, I canceled my 3 day $1.95 trial & was charged $49.95. I am presently disputing this, I should have researched this site online first & I would have seen all the complaints. It is full of spammers and scammers, it is twice as much as other sites but offers much less. A big joke! Don't waste your money!

If another member on the site is trying to obtain your email address, promote another business on our site, solicit you or ask you for money, that member needs to be reported immediately so that we may remove them off the site for violating our Terms & Conditions.

We do our very best to prevent people from misrepresenting themselves in their descriptions as well. However, because we have millions of profiles on our site, with thousands more being created on a daily basis, from time to time you will encounter a profile which is not honestly representing that member's true status, age, location, etc. For that and other reasons, we have provided a "Report a Problem" link at the bottom of a member's profile. If you suspect someone of being flagrantly dishonest about something important in their profile/photos/description, or of otherwise violating our Terms of Service, please report that to us so we can investigate further as needed.

You can also turn off our Chat feature by clicking on the "Options" button in the chat window if you feel you are receiving too many requests.

I am recommending this site be avoided. I have had the same problem as others who have signed up for the trial period and have been charged for a whole month. I have filed a dispute case with my bank and am awaiting resolution. Bad Site! There are plenty of other sites (I have tried a few with no problems) and this is the only one that seems to be bogus.

I started using Mate1.com and it is really easy to use. I love it. I can chat with people and look at tons of pics. It's kind of awesome. I have had my account for like, 3 months now and I chat regularly with a few girls. I have also been on dates! I think it's important for people to know about it- it's such a great website! I had never heard about Mate1 before my buddy told me, but now that i know about Mate1, I'm so happy, because it is the best.

I have been using Mate1 for about a year. I love its chat room and it doesn't have sucky questions for you to answer. There are tons of hot girls and the site is easy to use. Good vibe. I recommend it!

Mate1 was great, that's where I met my husband. It all started with an email I received. Mate1 sends you matches from their system and I finally decided to start looking at them. It didn't take long that I met him and we hit it off right away. We chatted on the site so I knew it was safe and eventually we decided to meet. We've been living together for 15 months now. I think Mate1 isn't so bad. All sites have some profiles which aren't legitimate. I've always had success calling their customer service line and people have been generally nice to me. After upgrading my browser a lot of sites stopped working for me and Mate1 were actually the only people who took the time to help me out.

You should focus on the positives too. Like the fact that Mate1 doesn't censor their users like other sites do. That makes a huge difference!

I think Mate1 is a good site and they've been there for a long time and since it's one of the bigger and more professional sites, definitely worth it.

I put up my profile on this site in the Fall of 2009. I accumulated a number of messages, so decided to become an active member around the first of the year, 2010. I frequently get messages from Mate1, saying "Interested in so-and-so? Send her an E-mail." When I check that user's profile, I usually see that she has not been active on the site for over three weeks, the highest threshold of inactivity listed on the site. You'd think that Mate1 would only send you ticklers of users who are active on the site.

Also, when I am composing an E-mail to a user on the site, I frequently get a pop-up window saying "so-and-so would like to chat with you." A few vital statistics are given in this window, one of which is not so-and-so's ethnicity. In almost all cases, it turns out that the person requesting chat is 1) a West African (largely Ghana, but sometimes Nigeria) scammer, or 2) a webcam stripper soliciting business. The scammers are pretty easy to detect, as they do not post a photo in their profile, and answer the questions in their profile with "Rather Not Say". The other day, I was on the computer in the afternoon and evening, and accumulated 18 reports to Mate1 of abuse by users initiating chat requests. You always get an automated acknowledgement from Mate1 when you submit an abuse report, and in the beginning, I would get a follow-up from someone in Mate1's Customer Service department. But lately, I've been getting no follow-ups.

In summary, Mate1 is a swamp of West African scammers and webcam strippers trolling for business. I'd have to say that fewer than 10% of the contacts I have made on this site are actually legitimate users in search of a date/relationship.

Mate1 is a mixed bag. There are real people on the site. Unfortunately, con-artists and cam-girls overwhelm the place. Every time I go on the site, I'm hit up with chat requests from women who want me to pay to see their sexy shows. I expect more from a site that charges me 50 bucks a month.

Watch out for the 3 day trial membership. If you don't actually cancel it during the 3 days, Mate1 will charge you 50 bucks every month until you tell them to stop.

Mate 1 is a scam, and basically lures men with fake female members and should you cancel your trial membership, they will attempt to try and charge you for the next month.

If you’re looking to meet new people from all around the world mate1 is a great site. But if you’re looking for something real, long term, I don't think mate1 has it. I’ve been an active member the past 2 months and all I’ve come in contact with are sex crazed men who only have one thing on the brain sex, sex, and more sex.

I've been in Las Vegas a little over 2 months. I'm looking for a 1 on 1 relationship with someone who is looking for the same! I was in Fort Collins Co. for 2 years before moving here. Before that I lived in Flagstaff Az. for 14 years. I'm currently waiting for a job in Kauai to start. I'm a 30 year carpenter. If I find the right person would consider taking her with me. I'm not a player nor do i want to hook up with one. Looking for the real deal!
