Sorry, but I tried POF a couple of times, and every time I got a very very creepy feeling from it. Seems none of the men actually read the profiles, they just click the "want to meet you" button. I specifically asked that if someone were interested, to write and tell me more about themselves ... and that I would not answer a note that simply said "hi". Yep, you guessed it ... several "hi's", a bunch of "you're pretty" 1-sentence notes, and only one who actually told me a little. But it was very little - definitely not enough to interest me. Personally, I think it's a matter of you get what you pay for. And in this case, you're paying nothing, so you're going to get nothing. My feeling is that most of the people on POF either aren't really serious about wanting to find a partner, or are so broke/out-of-work they can't really afford to date anyway. If a person is actually serious about wanting to find someone for a REAL relationship (and want to use a dating site to do so), they'll pay to be on a decent one. As for me, don't think I'll be back there ... any time.

@Ellis I'm having the same difficulty on POF as a black man in Ontario Canada.. The girls just don't respond at all. I'm an attractive man, have a career and all of that, not a gangsta, dresses well and so on. The women here seem like they just want white men. Some seem like they would rather have a white man that treats them like garbage (some even being physical with them) than deal with a black man that would treat them properly.

Sometimes another thing that goes against us is they assume we are players too which girls have directly told me they thought i was because I look good.

I remember years ago it was so easy to get white girls. I guess the times have changed lol.

I had this waste of time for about 6 months to a year. All it did was give me no responses and a bunch of nothing. I am not the best looking guy but I made sure I stayed in my league and did not go for the hottest girl there. I even picked a few chubby girls that appeared to have good personalities. Somehow I received no response for being "that nice guy women appeared to want in their profiles". If women feel that they should think that highly of themselves on a dating site to not even give a courtesy response, then they shouldn't be on the site in the first place. A dating site to me means you are willing to sacrifice looks for happiness and if you can't do that then you should really have your head examined.

@jon simpson Plenty of fish is a scam, I had joined for only four days, I received a couple of messages from a woman I thought was interested in me, and in order for me to see those messages I had to subscribe for a minimum of 1 3 6 or 12 months. I chose the 3 month option, and within 5 minutes of paying them £89 British pounds from my credit card, which I had just topped up with £300 as my card was at its credit limit, they then decided to block me and remove my profile and close my account. I checked with my credit card company, and they had taken almost £300 from my account. I am very angry, I won't say what I would like to do to this person, but believe me they will never be seen again, their time on this planet would have expired. My advice to anybody thinking of joining these thieves and scammers will regret it, do your research first so you don't end up with your heart and bank account broken, you have been warned.

Plentyoffish.com is by far the worst, the absolute worst dating website that exists. If you were smart, you would not even bother wasting your time filling out all their questionnaires and then searching thru women that don't even exist. You will have much more success at craigslist.org than you will at plenty of fish. If you're going to pay for a dating service, pay match.com or a similar well-established dating service and get something for your money. For one, they are not totally free like they advertise. If you don't subscribe and become a paying member within like a week, they will simply delete your profile and username without even giving you a notice and permanently ban you. If you pay them to advertise on their site then you must be a complete fool. Not really even a one star rating, more like negative 5. Go ahead and try poor old fish.com you'll find out for yourself.

This site, it has loads of women on it. There are a few that I have received replies back from and got into a conversation with which has gone onto msn chats and texts, which already makes it top the likes of Match.com whom I never get replies from (and no it's not because my messages are rubbish). But I found that after a time you try and arrange to call them or to meet them for a drink or something and they all seem dead up for it saying yeah that sounds good and then that's it. Get ignored from then on, you never hear from them again. So I don't personally rate online dating as a good enough option anymore. Think I'll stick to being single rather than waste my time.

POF claims it is a free site. In some respect it is, but it is not a totally free site. It has a number of options where you have to pay to access them and they are adding more and more as they go forward. Luckily, most of the pay options are worthless and one would have to be a fool to pay for them.

I was a member and all of a sudden I could no longer get in. I tried and tried to get in touch with POF and never got a answer from them on what happened----I tried all of their fix problems and nothing worked. At this point I will not even give them a one star but to submit I need to push one.

This site is a joke. Girls don't respond to messages. Even if they're fat and ugly they have a very inflated view of themselves. I think the ratio is way skewed in favor of those warthogs. I think feminism has ruined the American woman. They be mean nowadays.

There is nothing better than socializing in real life. It is too easy to use fake information and pictures on the internet. Try taking some classes at your local college, joining a club or hobby group you are interested in. The old way is still the best way. Be very careful what you enter into a computer. God bless!

This guy Marcus is a joke he doesn't go by the policy's if he doesn't like you or your account he will delete it without consent or notice. That's if you even get to open a account because the common error occurs, every user name you pick will be already taken. I'll be submitting a complaint with the better business Bureau. This guy's site needs to be taken down unless he's gonna "man up" and go by his own policies and this is why the site hasn't grown or changed like "ever". It's pathetic Marcus has no morals or pride in his site to be fair and professional like all the other "real" dating sites.

i too had been on pof for a few months and was getting on great but imagine my surprise when one day i logged into find i couldn't access my account. I had met someone i really thought might be the one and had arranged a date so i created another profile which touch wood hasn't been deleted yet. Pof sent me an email saying that my account had been deleted but wouldn't disclose why. I read their terms and conditions and as far as I'm aware have not violated them. I just hope i can get through to the people i became friends with before getting booted off again.
