I have tried POF several times and found, from a female perspective, that it is full of serial daters, men looking for fwb situations and/or men with serious issues, such as being mentally ill, chronically unemployed or being extremely neurotic.

All the pitfalls of any other dating site including that they have 2X or more guys than girls. The 45/5% is total BS. The girls on this site are not as pretty as let's say on Match. It would be one star, but since you can use the site for free it gets two.

I haven't met a lot of guys who are serious on this site. A lot of the messages I have received are from men looking for sex. I deleted my account months ago.

I agree. I am a Black man and I couldn't get anything going with a white woman. They wouldn't reply and if you see them on chat, they would decline. Now that's not to say all white women are that way, but the majority of them in my area and state of NY. It makes no sense for me to communicate with women from other states because they will say they don't do distance relationships. Now black women give me more replies.

Hello. I live in Japan (Okinawa ), and I need a good advice how to become a member of this site, because they can`t register people from Japan or how they said only for few countries, but not yet for Japan.....

There should be a place to report people as on match.com and e- harmony, and if they are doing something inappropriate then their profile should be banned and taken off. I also think people need to post a photo-- a recent one. And please people remember this is a dating site not looking for sex. But of course some of you don't have any morals or values, which is sad!! Please be honest too.

@Paul Kroell haha least ur getting to the dates......I have yet to even get on a date. I've talked to 3 serious girls on here one stood me up 2 times, 2nd and 3rd just blew me off after 3 weeks of trying to set up a meet after they use excuse after excuse....

I've only had one girl message me with something other than "hello" and 99% of my messages just get read. I've even had someone delete my message without viewing my profile OR reading the message. It's becoming a total waste of time. I'm not creepy. Every message is generic. I try to start a conversation. He's right. Most girls are in it for the ego boost. I had one girl tell me she was seeing someone at the moment. Yet she's online every day. So either she's lying or she likes the attention.

I still do not know if the females get to see my interests when i message them and send my profile to them--none will tell me and it's been 2 months. Also, why are women allowed to say they want long-term relationships and then drag me to mixers and dive bars and then show me their potential lovers who have goo goo eyes for them and are better looking. it's plain mean. I end up footing the bill and am only an escort while these women just try to get these potential lovers jealous. Also,kia4 told me i was a fatty yet she has a pooch too and then wanted me to spend $4000 for teeth braces and then wanted me as a roommate in a house she doesn't even own and was being foreclosed on. Where do i live after that the streets? Reasonably housing is hard to find in san diego county. After spending $400 on her on 3 dates just plain trying to please her-she wouldn't even answer my phone call. Also men can't write anything about wanting sex eventually in their profiles and women get to write what they want. There is definitely a double standard. I put in easily 25 messages before i get even 1 female message back and have had only 4 dates in 2 months. I've probably sent out over 100 messages in 2 months. Women are just s**ts and w****s ... just like in real life except there are no pretensions. U either got the looks and money or U do not. Women are just more honest and genuine on the site. They have no social restrictions.

@ciara I couldn't agree more!!! I'm soooooo tired of the same thing, and have even been told I sound like a prude. I refuse to 'talk dirty' (electronically speaking), only to be expected to give it up IF the guy decides he just might get some by meeting me in person. Geez.....

POF is a pretty good site as far as dating sites go. The problem is like most free dating sites, it suffers from a skew of the male/female demographic. Just as an experiment I ran a few searches on Plenty of fish for towns around my area. What I found was this. For some places, men are outnumbering the women by 10-to-1 or more (I didn't have time to try other areas so I don't know if it is the same everywhere). In only a few "best cases", I found the ratio came down to around 2-to-1 men/women, but I didn't find anywhere where it was close to even numbers of male/female. So it means in a typical area where you have say "100 people" registered for dating on POF who are within driving distance of you, the reality is you could have something like 90 men chasing 10 women in that area. So it means it's good for the women maybe but not the guys... For men, dating on POF is a bit like hanging around in male locker room and wondering why you can't meet a woman.

Signed up a few days ago. While it is FREE, and fairly easy to use i have found that 9/10 women either out weigh me by 100 or so pounds or have more kids than I do fingers! Not that that is a bad thing, but just not what im looking for. Amazingly all the good looking women are either fake profiles or have been active in months go figure.

@khan kamacha That is pretty harsh don't u think? I work and supported my children by myself with no child support. So there is a few that work hard and don't ask for nothing.

Maybe it’s just me… I find the quality of men on POF and sites like it is extremely low - in the gutter almost. So far I’ve only come across 2 types of guys there. First are the ones too cheap to pay to get on a respectable site. Ok, I know times are tough but any guy who’s too stingy to pay $20 or $30 to get onto a real site, you have to ask “are they really worth dating”? Second are the ones who’ve got something to hide. Usually it’s an unsuspecting wife or girlfriend, or could be something worse like a con. You’ve gotta ask, “what are they doing there in the first place”? Are they there for a real reason, or are they just playing around? So far I’ve only seen the players.

This site needs a customer service menu where questions and comments can be forwarded. It is essential to any business model today to have such a service. This site has a posted question - answer section which is good for common issues, but it does not allow for customer feedback for improvement. Questions and answers are only permitted in the format of a history of common issues. Because it is a free site, it does not mean that it should operate with cheesy, substandard methods. They make plenty of money from advertising.

Also, if their site is going to be down, they need to have the brains and where-with-all to blanket email all their customers and inform them.

I will say that 90% of the women I have seen on here don't have a healthy clue as to what a relationship is, or even how to start one. Most are shopping for toys and clothes and whatever debate they can get out of emails.

I am wondering what happened to the site Plentyoffish? I had an email saying that I had mail on there and when I clicked on the link and then typed in my pass code, it took me completely out of plenty of fish and now it will not come up and says webpage cannot be found. Is the site deleted or is it having problems or what is going on? I had someone I was interested in and he was interested in me, but now we cannot make a connection and I really would like to find him...

I will have to agree with Frank. I recently opened an account on plentyoffish. I was happy with a few of my matches and we were holding great conversations, so I already had a couple of candidates. I came to log in today only to find that my account was deleted. I never received an email as to why. I read the agreement and nothing on there indicates that I breached it. I tried to create the account again with another name and email to see what happens, I get the same result. It really sucks, I was having such a good time. Guess that's why there are paid sites.
