Cupid.com

Cupid.com is a dating community with a focus on users' local dating scene. This site operates on the philosophy that the best way for its members to find romance is to allow them to do the matchmaking on their own. The site lets its users create a profile that includes personal photographs, a brief bio, a physical description, plus lists of their personal interests. After creating a personal profile, users can browse the profiles of hundreds of other singles in their geographic region. Most new members of Cupid.com are surprised at just how many other people in their area share their interests - and share their desire to initiate a romantic relationship.

One interesting feature of Cupid.com is its ability to let members maintain and update personal weblogs - journals that keep the online community of other Cupid.com members up-to-date as to what the person maintaining the weblog is doing. The opportunity to maintain is extended to even the free Basic members of Cupid.com. Gold members have additional perks, such as the ability to comment on other members' weblogs, plus the ability to send other members unlimited e-mail and instant messages.

I tried the 3 day free trial. It began late on 8/27 and was supposed to expire on 8/30. On 8/29 at 11:18 pm, I initiated a cancellation request. The way to cancel is obscure. You must find and click on "Billing History" and then on a button titled "Cancel Repeat Billing"

Once I found that and followed the instructions, there was a code to enter and verify and then you need to wait for another message.

Here's the message I received: "We'll send the cancellation code to the following e-mail address. "xxxxx.xxx" (my email address). The Cancellation code will arrive at your e-mail address within an hour. This code will be valid for two days."

I got the email with a cancellation just before midnight on 8/29.
When I logged in just after midnight, I found I was already ...

I'm currently a Cupid.com member. All I have to say is save your money and your time. There are so many Spams. Don't be falling in their traps.

The only way out of the scam is to cancel your debit card>that is how they continue to charge us!!

Cupid.com offers 2 kind of membership plans a Gold and Platinum, but don't specify the differences between the gold and the platinum plan. I emailed the customer service for the differences. They told me that Platinum membership can be used for all the features on the site without any limitations. This still doesn't specify the differences. When people pay to be a member, the info should be written upfront. This a little scam of Cupid.com but not so smart.

Just before Christmas 2009, cupid was taken over by easy date and changed the entire website. The NEW cupid is totally worthless. The customer service is gone, they stole my money and reverted me from a fully PAID Gold member and for no reason made me a basic member, all due to my complaints. I have since filed claims against Cupid and the state AG is investigating cupid bait and switch false advertising. Save yourself the anguish and do not join cupid.com.
