Fiance.com is one of the better known “foreign bride” websites that features girls from “ex-Soviet Union” countries. Men visiting the site can communicate with women once they purchase membership. The female catalogue contains more than 23,000 profiles that can be browsed by age and popularity (miss wow) using the quick menu links. Detailed searches can also be made, where it’s possible to set additional preference filters including physical appearance, lifestyle, location, and English fluency among others. It’s also possible to view profiles with videos. Female profiles are mostly detailed and descriptive and contain useful information. They also state whether the woman is independent or if she must be corresponded-with via a marriage agency. Most profiles have several pictures attached and some have video (there is an additional cost for viewing or sending video clips).
Men can join the site for free, and optionally upload photos and videos that will be displayed in the “gentlemen’s catalogue”. All new profiles must be approved by the site’s moderator before they appear online. Men can opt to send a letter to their chosen lady by clicking the link in her profile. Those in doubt whether the lady actually exists or not can request a video reply.
