GreenSingles.com - Dating Site Review

I have been on greensingles off and on for several years, at least, and have never encountered a situation in which I felt that a profile on the site was fabricated by the owners. I have had some success with meeting very nice and interesting people, and prefer this site much more than the larger ones, like, say, match.com... When I sign up for more mainstream sites, I receive far too many messages from people with whom I seemingly have little or nothing in common. They seem to be responding almost entirely because of photos or physical qualities, such as height, hair color, etc. On greensingles, I really feel that the majority of people with whom I have had contact are sincerely interested in finding a partner with whom to share an ethical, conscious, and yes, "green,"life..

Alan and Mary are great owners/caretakers of the site, and do screen members! Given my interactions with them over the years, I find it very unlikely, even impossible, to believe that they would fabricate profiles! I have my computer on most of the time when I am home, and, unless I log out of the site, would show as being logged in for long stretches of time. And, concerning women not responding after initiating contact, perhaps they changed their mind, or got busy doing other things..maybe became involved with someone else? Who knows? But your experiences are easily explained without assuming that the site owners are running some kind of scam..

Anyway, I joined green singles, out of boredom. I too wrote a lot of messages and got little response. I'm not sure why. Next time I'm going to lie a whole lot more. I agree that profiles tend to linger there forever. The update style goes from yesterday to the last three weeks, which may be a euphemism for the end of time. I did have some delicious correspondences with some truly off-beat and troubled women that made the whole thing worthwhile, however. One woman wrote me from Labrador wanting me to build her a hydroponic house. She was allergic to everything; including her own skin. The house has negative air pressure to keep out allergens. I fell for her a bit. If that was a fictional character it was extremely creative. Keep up the good work.

I'm sorry this person didn't have a better experience on our site GreenSingles.com. However, that's no reason to try to smear us with false accusations and innuendo.

We have been in business since 1985. We started as a postal newsletter and went on the web in 1996. We are a small special interest website and as such we do not have the most members in the most places. However, we do have loyal membership with many longtime members. Over the years we have had hundreds of marriages and thousands of other connections made.

I can assure everyone that we do not fabricate member profiles. We receive over 1000 new members each month. We care deeply about our membership and screen all accounts before we accept anyone. We reject about 20%. We welcome single members of the environmental, vegetarian and animal rights communities to give us a try.

Not a whole lot of traffic on this website. Some profiles of very attractive women seem to have been fabricated since these supposed real people would constantly be on the website for long stretches - I figured they were probably just friends of the site's owners. One curious thing that led to believe that some of it is not legitimate is that once my communication credits ran out I would all of a sudden receive an email from a girl supposedly wanting more information. Of course, once I had renewed I wouldn’t even received a response. I had my picture and a very detailed profile, so the msg was curious.

Idiot me, I fell for that move twice- the sudden receiving of a msg for more info when my communication credits had run out. I'd guess a good portion of female profiles are not legitimate. Probably owing to a gender imbalance on these sites.
