IndianDating is a community for people of Indian descent to meet, chat and exchange mail with one another. The site is available in English only and most members are of Indian origin but are living in the U.K. or the United States. It’s a pay site, operated by the Cupid network; however it’s possible to access the site as a guest (free) member. To join, the first step is to enter your location and a valid email address. After confirming your email, you’ll be required to complete several sections about yourself and your lifestyle and what type of person you are looking for. There’s a possibility to upload photos and videos to your profile too - many steps can be skipped until later, making the whole process relatively quick and straightforward.
On entering the site for the first time, the first impression is that it’s modern and well-presented, and very easy to use - this vastly improves the whole experience as you don’t have to constantly think where something is when there. The pleasant blend of colors also adds to the site’s appeal.
The search tools are readily available at the top of the page. A quick search lets you locate other users by their age and postcode (UK postcode or US Zip) or city. Other options let you ignore profiles without photos or videos. The advanced settings offer further additional choices to narrow down your search.
As with most other pay sites, free members will find their access is fairly restricted until they upgrade. While other people’s profiles can be viewed, close-up photos can’t. Neither are they able to send messages (other than express interest via an e-flirt). The site’s instant chat system is also only accessible to paying members. There’s also a community section with a few articles as well as user-created blogs (online diaries) - however this section of the site doesn’t appear to be very active.
Indian Dating is a popular online venue where people of the Indian culture can meet for socializing or relationships. It’s not a matrimonial site and doesn’t claim to be. Those seeking a more traditional matrimony site would do better elsewhere (Shaadi or Qiran for example).
