Aside from the site, the iphone and and Lovestruck parties are excellent. Simply the best site out there at the moment.

Lovestruck

Lovestruck is a modern, stylish website, aimed at young professionals working in or around major cities in the UK and beyond. New members can select from a list of UK cities such London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds. They then specify a “meeting point” closest either to their work place or where they live. There are a few choices for those living in cities outside the UK, but these are rather restricted. Once you activate your account by clicking the link in the welcome email, you’ll be prompted to complete other sections of your profile. These can be skipped if you so choose. All profiles must be approved by the site’s moderators, and until so, you’ll have restricted access. Searching is possible, however messaging others is not.

Those who wish to keep parts of their profile out of public view can use the privacy settings. By selecting “favorites only”, only those people in your favorites list will be able to see your photos (and/or profile description). It’s also possible to completely hide your profile. At the top of the screen, you can tell others about your current availability, by saying you’re free for lunch, free today/tonight, or if you’re busy.

Your homepage will be tied to the city you chose in your profile, and you’ll see links to other members living in your vicinity. To change to another area, you’ll need to modify your profile. The search tool, called the “little black book” lets you define a gender and age range for your desired date. It’s also possible to show only those online or who have pictures. An extensive choice of additional filters can be found by clicking the “advanced search” link.

The basic features of the site can be used for free. Email and sending ice-breakers is possible, though free members can’t communicate with each other. Paying members receive a number of extra perks. In addition to being able to view the site without advertisements, paying members can also send and receive messages from anyone. They also receive priority listing in search pages, and can supply additional photos. An added bonus is that they have the ability surf the site “incognito”. That is, they can view profiles without alerting the other person.

LoveStruck is an interesting, well thought-out, and well put-together site. It offers its free members a generous set of features and paying members get even more. It has a regional flavor and will mainly appeal to those living in or near large towns or cities in the United Kingdom. As well as a website, the service can be accessed via an iPhone or Android app for those on the go.
