I have to say it is the same story here, they sent me an email with an offer of a trial for £1 - which turns into full membership during this period. After two days I realized the site was shockingly bad, however could I cancel? Ooh could I ever, it was impossible to cancel automatic renewal or to contact their team. The cancel automatic renewal option was conveniently removed. I am considering sending them a summons now to get a refund of the £45 that I didn't agree to pay for.

I wanted to delete the information in my personal ad, and MEETIC customer support either misconstrued my emails or something, I have no idea, but within 5 days of making a paid membership I have no access to my account, and no email is being sent to me to acknowledge this. I cannot access it and there is no link to customer support or email box to resolve this. This is unbelievable... that's it, I'm done, they got my money and give me no service, no resolution, no nothing. I never saw the scam in the beginning. Somebody tell me how you make contact please. This cannot be truly how it works.

Meetic.com takes payment by PayPal as well now. Anyone can set up a PayPal account. It's pretty easy, and the advantage is that when you pay you don't release your credit card details to potentially unscrupulous sellers. Plus you can cancel the subscription at any time, unlike a credit card, which you usually have to cancel when this happens.

Meetic is definately among the worst - in the gutter. Meetic continues to employ unethical means in order to bilk unsuspecting 'members' out of vast sums of monthly 'membership' fees by applying their 'automatic renewal' feature to all who join - and then by providing NO MEANS by which to cancel. It's like checking into Hotel California - you can sign in any time you like, 'but you can never leave'. Attempts at online help receive only automated responses which direct the 'member' to either non-existant or non-funtional links to resolve the problem. Unless you want to resort to cancelling your credit cards to stop neverending 'automatic' renewals, join one of the numerous LEGITIMATE sites.

DatingDirect.com, a UK dating site, was taken over by Meetic last year. Now it seems that since this has happened a lot of people cannot cancel their subscription anymore and there is no way to access a customer support line yet. Sounds familiar? Is Meetic really a bad dating site, or have they just not got their act together yet?

Marc Simoncini is the greasy pimp running the site. It's a pure scam gauged only to screw you with no means to cancel membership - he hides behide the shady regs of different EU countries and no one controls the practices of such cyber-maggots in the EU - you may need to cancel your credit cards to stop this worm from sucking you dry...

Meetic is very very bad site. Once you have a profile on the site it's impossible to clean (remove) your profile and photo. I wrote to the management, but my request to remove my profile was ignored. I still cannot and I do not know how to remove my profile. The impression I have is that Meetic is only interested in having as many profiles and photos on their site as possible, and they don't care if the photos are genuine or not.

I took a package for 3 months and I became a member on June, 2007. I sent the cancellation before it expired and another one on October, 2007. Meetic.com continue to charge me $ 29.70 dollars, but I can not get access to my account anymore, but Meetic are still charging me. I have been trying so many channels until someone can hear me. I really thought that getting into the dating service will be safe and fun, but I was wrong, and to cancel a membership it is so hard and difficult.

Please help to put an end on this.

It is impossible to cancel your membership. I have been trying since june. They promise to send an email which you click on, to cancel, but it never does work. There is no facility to contact them within the site to discuss this issue. I am considering cancelling my credit card, as a last resort to stopping them taking the monthly payment. BE WARNED.

I really don't understand why it's necessary for Meetic to be so expensive, considering that they're supposed to have more than 1 million active members. I'm sure their income is well beyond their expenses, so it ought to be possible to lower the prices and still have a reasonable income?
