I don't understand why people don't want to meet out in the real world anymore where they can look somebody in the eye and know what they really are instead they want to try and meet people from behind a monitor where god knows who you could be talking to. People create all these fake profiles claiming to be somebody they are not or to look like they don't, way too much time sitting on asses these days. Let's get back to the for real world and out of cyber space it is killing the whole world to the point that people can't even smile and wave at one another anymore, be happy, never too good!

You have to try and set the yahoo personal back as it was before, it is more better and convenient than this, if you can do you will have more members and for the fake profile you will notice it by the amount of message they send ok, cuz i got about 20 the same mail from different profile and i was so curious how come...

This site is closing down and all existing and new members are being sent to Match.com. They are honoring the contract you had with yahoo for membership and will renew at that price.

@Ivan Today I checked to see who contacted me. I was sent to the link to pay and join the service, after trying to view whatever email was sent by 2 ladies. I called yahoo customer care after I notice that it also said I had no new email or views even though I received an email in my mailbox that said I had two. Further checking produces the emails from to younger ladies who's profiles i hadn't viewed. The yahoo person I was speaking too said "there was a link where members could view other member's profiles without being noted". Bottom line is if I had paid first neither of the photo the was shown as "we match" would have responded. Yahoo would have had another sucker to add to their profit margin. Yahoo this is not looking good. Computers follow instruction, but don't make their own decisions without being programmed.

Not impressed at all. The set up of the site is actually good and well laid out and user friendly, but that's where it stops. The main problem is you can have a full profile for free and as a result there many inactive and or fake profiles.

In addition, it is a magnet for Nigerian scammers with their fake profiles. I quickly became fed up being frequently contacted by fake profiles, which are usually easy to spot by their inconsistencies. You have to cancel your membership to actually stop the charges. They are actually very few real and active profiles, at least from women in 20's and 30's . A waste of time and money.

I agreed with a few of you out there, yahoo personal's customer service are the rudest. (She was a female personnel/worker) when I first joined, I didn't know much about it. I told them please discontinue after my three month, as I was out of the country. when I return and realized nothing has been done, as I saw the monthly charges still appeared on my credit card statement , since I didn't know how or take the time to find out how to take my profile off the site. I continue receive emails from the guy, though I didn't respond. I just look at them occasionally; the customer service told me that I had been using their web page. I never got my money back...
However there are a lot of positive things about yahoo personal, I still use it sometime, now that I get a little more familiar about it. But for our conveniences they should not block the email address that the interested party sent to one another after all, we all paid our dues for using this service.

Yahoo Personals though popular is very unproductive. Even though there are lots of members on the site, they are all not active or just don't use it any more. High number of members would give you the impression that it is a good service. In fact, high number of members is actually bad in this case.

Before you signup and pay for the service be warned that:

    -Yahoo cancellation is a fraud
-Yahoo steals your money by charging even after cancelling
-Yahoo makes it difficult to cancel

Searching the internet you would find many pages users complaining about their service especially about their cancellation and fraudulent charges. Previously you could only cancel by calling billing. Now, you can cancel online but only after finding the page to cancel the service. Users who are not internet savvy, would give up just trying to cancel.

If you are already charged, dealing with their billing care is a hassle. They sound polite at first. But are very rude. They intentionally have a phone system that makes it difficult to hear even after asking them to raise the volume. Contacting Yahoo corporate is also a hassle. Yahoo! which was so popular with many has lost market share and now bogged down by low employee morale. You can sense it by just talking to anyone in the company. Try reaching their corporate office, the lack of standards is even evident from the way the operator talks to you.

So, if you don't want to waste your time and money tread carefully. If you really want to check it out for yourself, take a test drive. You would more likely to come to the same conclusion as me.

It’s worthless you can’t communicate beyond stupid "smiley" type messages or one-liners that don’t say anything. Most of the profiles you’ll see are other free members whom you can’t say anything of substance unless they pony up and give Yahoo money. You’re better off on a real free site or trying some dating forums for cripes sake.

I’m sure some of the profiles on there are Yahoo made to promote their site. Several members were on the site for almost a year or so and somehow had not met anyone, and yeah I buy that.

Yahoo Personals just stole $90 from my account and will not refund my money. Do not give them your credit card information, they will take advantage of it. The $90 was for a renewal of a 6 month subscription. I signed up 6 months ago. The site was not that good, I met someone on another site shortly after and eventually canceled all my other profiles. Now 6 months later I get a charge on my visa for another $90.

I asked for refund and they say they will only refund if I contact them within 3 days of the billing. This is fraudulent as far as I am concerned.

Yahoo personals will only allow paying members to have a dialog with other paying members, but not with the thousands of non-paying members who have profiles on their site.

If you see a profile you like, but the member only has a free profile, you can message them but yahoo will delete any contact info you include in your message. The only way that person can respond to you is if they buy a membership.

Most people will not do this so you just think the person is not interested. Yahoo uses the thousands of non-paying members as shills to make the site look more popular than it is.

I tried to sign up and it was disasterous. Their signup program had bugs in it, but not buggy to keep my credit card info. Every month they charge me for services I can't get into. Their customer service is elusive, too. When I finally got them, they apologized and promptly refunded me. However the next month they were back on my credit statement again.

Once again I contacted them once again they apologized and removed it. They did this a few more times. A quick search on the web and I discovered numerous complaints about their billing. They are uunder the atty generals scrutiny now. Buyer beware. I had to cancel my credit card.
