Plenty Of Fish

Plenty Of Fish is far and away the largest free online dating service, and is also one of the most popular social communities in the world by number of visitors. With over 6 million members, there should be no problem finding someone in your part of the world. Plenty of Fish has its strongest following in Canada and the U.S, but is also growing in the UK and other parts of Europe. Simply go to the homepage to begin seeing profiles of singles from all over the world straight away. Or, customize your search for something more specific. Looking for some inspiration? Take a look at how others met. Find out how they fell in love and what's next for them. At Plentyoffish.com you'll find a well-stocked database full of internet dating success stories.

You can get a pretty good idea of the kinds of people using the site without even registering. However, for more sophisticated searches, you will need to complete the free registration process. As well as being hugely popular, POF also claim a high success rate. The testimonials page credits the site with many marriages and happy long-term relationships. Becoming a member of POF involves a painless two-page registration. Initially you simply choose a login name, specify a valid email, and your city. On the second page you need to specify a headline for your profile and short biography. Following registration, there is a personality test that you can complete or ignore if you choose.

Once you are in, it’s not difficult to see why this site is so popular. Everything is designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind. You can easily navigate to any part of the site that you want by using the quick links that are located at the top of each page. These allow you to fish quickly for matches in various ways such as people in your city, by age and location, new users, and people online now. As well as these quick links a basic and advanced search are provided that will allow you to fine tune your hunt for a partner. The site also has great forums, and picture rating tools, where you can rate photos of other members who have opted in for this. Many of these sections of the site are run by users for users.

POF warn that they actively banish people from the site who are unpleasant or abusive. This has led to complaints by some people who say their profiles were deleted for no apparent reason. On the plus side, the numerous profiles on the site are mostly of very good quality and contain useful and accurate information.

With plenty of fish you have no privacy. Your plenty of fish profile naem is searchable on Google. Plenty of fish is inept. They could easily prevent Google from crawling their profile pages, but they don't know enough about website design to implement it. Imagine what's happening to your credit card information if you upgrade! What's worse is that Google caches the pages it crawls, so even if you delete your plenty of fish account, it will stay on Google for years.

I sent them an email to let them know what the problem was and first they said it was my fault, when I provided documentation, they ignored me. Plenty of fish can fix this problem, but they choose not to. Everyone should send them an email and let them know that what they are doing isn't right. Here's their email address: csr@pof.com.

I have been using the site for almost a year now. As free websites go, it really is the best. The problem, if you want to call it that, lies with most of the women there. And as a few members will say here, most wonder why they are single. I am beginning to understand why. I have met a nice girl through this site, hooked up and burned out with 3 others, one my fault, the other 2 because well, things just didn’t work. But regarding my previous point; most women there are in it for the ego boost.

I live in the UK, and the majority of profiles are made by women who are in my opinion are lazy, self centered, whiny and superficial. You will see a profile with a woman in nothing but bra and panties yell out: PLEASE DON'T TALK TO ...

This site is free unless you want to pay the small fee to have a gold star under your name to indicate that you’re a serious member. Members with this star are very few. The site is constantly going through changes, many bad some good. With the many tabs and sub tabs it doesn’t make for a new user friendly experience. Trying to reach the forums is currently a tricky task. However the forums are not a very friendly place. It's been mentioned on many other review sites that the forum admins run a dictatorship and generally favour the female community regardless if they are guilty or not.

Men literally need to watch EVERYTHING they write or risk a ban brought on from a vindictive women who happens to disagree on a comment. Typically anyone asking for advice will get either their post removed by the ...

The site is now known for deleting accounts more so than it's free usage. I've never had that happen to me before but apparently the site is not as secure as we may think it is and accounts literally get hijacked by hackers all the time. Customer support won't respond because they are too ashamed to admit this so instead they try to use that corny new plug of "if you're not fit to date we delete your account" something to that affect : )

The site is run by one dude! He doesn't have any other people working for him and he's not going to pay that technician to figure out why the accounts are being hijacked and or deleted. He just wants his advertisement payments. He's probably someone just like me and you that is in front of their computer in their dorm room, or ...

I still do not know if the females get to see my interests when i message them and send my profile to them--none will tell me and it's been 2 months. Also, why are women allowed to say they want long-term relationships and then drag me to mixers and dive bars and then show me their potential lovers who have goo goo eyes for them and are better looking. it's plain mean. I end up footing the bill and am only an escort while these women just try to get these potential lovers jealous. Also,kia4 told me i was a fatty yet she has a pooch too and then wanted me to spend $4000 for teeth braces and then wanted me as a roommate in a house she doesn't even own and was being foreclosed on. Where do i live after that the streets? Reasonably housing is hard to find in san diego county. After spending $400 on her on 3 dates just plain trying to please her-she wouldn't even answer my phone call. Also men can't write anything about wanting sex eventually in their profiles and women get to write what they want. There is definitely a double standard. I put in easily 25 messages before i get even 1 female message back and have had only 4 dates in 2 months. I've probably sent out over 100 messages in 2 months. This sure is time consuming and difficult. My first date was even living with a guy and she wants a long term relationship with me--huh! Boghos

@debs I’m just like u but on the opposite side of the spectrum. i am a single father and i can't seem to find anyone to date. No one at all, no replies, no inquiries, no dates. Just a couple of people who seem desperate to get out of their "situation".

I really resent being told I'm too fussy - so one legged, spotty dwarfs welcome! The thing is if you are a woman looking for a man, despite your preferences and your politeness in describing what you want men you don't want write to you. If you do not reply you open yourself up to a torrent of abuse for ignoring them -and if you do reply 'thanks but no thanks' they take it as invitation to continue. I'm a woman looking for a man: I'm not a nurse looking for a patient to mend.

Hi. I am on POF, and have tried navigating the dating world as well. Sure, of course you get wierdos, and liars. You do on ANY site. It is really hard for any moderator to know if someone is truly who they say they are online. BUT...for God's sake, stop grouping everyone into "loser" category. I am REAL damn it. I live in a small town and it is hard to meet new ppl. You think my friends want to go out "trolling for dates" with me? You think it looks good for a woman, or is even safe...for them to go out alone hoping to meet someone? NO it is not! I don't ask men for money, am not looking for a "sugar daddy". I do not lie or put up fake pictures of myself. I actually update them every couple months even. Ok, so I have had that happen where they talk and disappear. I have had ones that wanna meet and are not as they seem. BUT, I have met people when out...face to face, only to find later the wedding ring had been taken off, they weren't working for the fire dept. but were on welfare...etc etc. You take that chance wherever you are. Meeting a new person means having to take the time to actually KNOW them. Not POF'S fault that some people can and are rude, insensitive idiots. The idea behind POF is just this: trying to help people find someone to be happy with. Plain and simple. It might not happen as you wish, and you might have to keep fishing a while, but at least it is an avenue that you can explore without having to spend hard-earned money for possibly no return. My kudos to Marcus and his site...and to the "haters" let's see you come up with something better, and put your money where your mouth is!

Plenty of Fish is a wonderful idea, tool and service. I believe everyone wants to find love and for that the whole idea of finding your perfect match ... for free is wonderful. Being on line makes it even easier to screen out the crazy ones. It actually save a person a lot of time! Happy fishing!!

Women are just s**ts and w****s ... just like in real life except there are no pretensions. U either got the looks and money or U do not. Women are just more honest and genuine on the site. They have no social restrictions.

    Pros: free and easy

Cons: culling of the male members

That's because it was being 'upgraded'. This happens quite frequently, and it seems that the administrator adds and deletes features on a whim. Some features last longer than others, but don't get used to them because they can disappear without any warning. Very amateur approach to site maintenance.

Every loser on the planet seems to be registered here! Rednecks, trailer trash, hookers looking for business, married folk, illegal immigrants.. you name it, you will find them all. I had an ordinary profile, no sexy pics, nothing provocative, yet I was always contacted by cheap men looking for an easy lay. I was talking to one guy for a while, until i found out from another female member on the site he's already married with a family. The other guy I talked to says he's going through a divorce and could not afford the trip to come to see me, so I'd have to pay to go see him if we were ever to meet. Those people who found someone on plentyoffish I'm very happy for them. It never worked for me.

I find a woman, look at her picture first then read the profile. They wonder why they are single. One: they are too choosy. Two, they don't even bother emailing you back. You get one to two emails and that's it. So yes there are a lot of woman out there who are only playing games because i have seen them. It's not always the man.

@ciara I couldn't agree more!!! I'm soooooo tired of the same thing, and have even been told I sound like a prude. I refuse to 'talk dirty' (electronically speaking), only to be expected to give it up IF the guy decides he just might get some by meeting me in person. Geez.....
