I actually ran into a guy that I had went on one date with on this site... afterwards when we parted ways, I did find out he was married.. and still is married. I came across his profile on this website and flagged him numerous times but he is still on there. I deleted my profile... this site is a total scam. If you are in the Houston area, avoid the guy with the ID of csides. He claims to be 48 but he told me he was 48 two years ago and he states he is divorced but he is married. This guy is also cheap and wanted me on the one date we had to pay for dinner...

I was on plentyoffish and it seems there are more sardines on that web site than mermaids. Most of the woman are not really attractive that I would never approach them in public and they all have drama in their lives. If it’s free, you get all the riff raff. Men, you want a woman who does not emails lots of guys on a web site. Find a good woman by a friend, at a church, etc. I found my love by a friend and we are getting married. I'm happy I am out of the dating game. :)

Plentyoffish.com is a piece of crap. I signed up 2 nights ago. Got a response from the cutest girl. Soon as I think things are going right, BOOM, my profile is deleted. I re-registered, making sure I had no offensive material on my profile and still yet again within 20 minutes tops my profile was deleted again. I thought to myself, what a crock!! Tried one last time and sent the girl I liked an email informing her of my prior deletions and sent her my email addresses, but I doubt she received them. Not even 10 minutes after re-registering it was deleted for the 3rd time. F*** that site. Myspace is better.

@Ami I think Plentyoffish is full of players looking for hookups. I met several who said they were looking for a relationship but they are always searching. One man who moved to Chelsea, Michigan named Andy on POF, profile name andy12345. He is a cold blooded player with an addiction to trying to hook up with every female on that site. He was so cheap, he used his job as an excuse that he hasn’t got enough free time to date. lol. But of course he wants to come over to your house. He is almost 40 years old but the age range he desires starts at 20 year old women? He is almost old enough to be their dad. lol. He tries to lure women in with half nude photos on his profile. I don’t understand why POF deletes them, then allows that man to re add them on his profile.. He also added his Yahoo web site address. POF rules say members are not allowed to do this. Just proves to me that POF lets the men on that site get away with anything. The site is garbage.. But I guess that’s what you get for free. lol.

The women on this site are also trash, no one has jobs, and they are looking for men to support them. All trash women on plenty of fish.

@MyName Yep, POF is certainly set up to maximize ad revenue over site effectiveness/efficiency. Under that scenario, POF could be nothing other than a hookup site. Very few men will use a site like that for relationship purposes.

POF is also a quite negative environment as well, which certainly isn't a good dating environment. However if a guy actively chooses to date down, it will be a very positive environment for that guy ... just provide the validation for vanity ... it all seems magical after that.

Still, I prefer to think the majority of problems/complaints men/women have with the site is primarily due to how the sites' user base is managed ... favoring ad revenue ... rather than thinking women that are using the site are particularly bad.

Women on there have mental health issues, most of them are ugly or fake and the good looking ones never reply. For women you have enormous choice of guys to choose from. For a man...don’t even bother signing up. Oh yeah and my account was deleted because I exposed a fake profile which was probably set up by the administrators on the site.

Looks like I'm one of the hundreds or thousands that signed up at POF only to find out to have been treated like an idiot. I was able only once to log in again. With a bunch of phony excuses at the site for logins, and after countless attempts to enter my username and password, the entered information was just wiped clean every time and login was impossible.

If they treat new members like that, they should at least have the courtesy to inform them WHY they don't qualify for membership. I also studied all of their rules and regulations but could not find one that I could possibly have violated.

Why does the creator (Markus) even bother to send out WELCOME invitations after registration by email to new members that are being thrown out the next day without an explanation, anyway?

Don't bother to register for this site. It will just delete your profile after you log-off. There is no customer service and your mail will go unanswered.

POF doesn't have the typical toolset in place that dating sites normally do. Yes, this is to maximize ad revenue of course, but it will just devolve the site into a light weight version of MySpace. MySpace isn't a place where you would go for relationships but rather simply hookups. POF is the same thing.

Not having that toolset creates a lot of the problems people complain about. In the end you end up with a bunch of women getting ego boosts from a bunch of guys looking for sex. Pretty pathetic really. I find it unlikely that there are very many men whose self respect is low enough to consider women using POF suitable for relationships. Really what man, would use a hookup site to find his "sweetheart"?

And did you see the self descriptions of women on that site ... and what they are looking for? I hang with a whole bunch of well educated professional men. I know of NO guys that meet what these women are looking for. These women are at best looking for a "sexual prop" or a "male prop".

Ironically, in my short visit to the site, I found it quite challenging to even locate women there that were suitable for me, even though all of these women clearly state I would not be good enough anyway.

It's just a bunch of women starving for attention, living out a fantasy of being in high demand. They're in shock that Mr. Awesome has not yet found them and POF, and is the last step before they accept their own reality.

POF, for me, is just a large collection of women I would never be interested in. They typically lack the strength of character to attract top tier men. While there may be a few women on the site that are suitable, finding them without the toolset mentioned above is far too time consuming.

I don't know why men, who really bring something to the table, would even consider that site.

Plentyoffish is not a bad site at all. The problem is that "free" attracts all the losers in the world, cheap guys looking for quick hookups and tons of rednecks and rude idiots. I am sure half of them are sex offenders. If this is the kind of place you want to meet your someone special, go ahead.

Hi, guys! Don't believe all this nonsense about free dating agencies. The women there are looking just for fun. If you really want to meet a nice, caring woman who'll become your devoted life partner, you should contact some local dating agencies. There are not so many women there, but they are all serious and really want to get married. I can advise you a nice Ukrainian agency MissUA. I've met my bride there!

This site is appears to be a scam and is run by one person. He gets paid for every click on the ads there, rumors are there are many of fake ads...posted by whom? They will NOT reply and delete your profile if they don't like what you have to say. Be concerned about your personal information.

I wanted to try this online dating thingy and I was glad to find a free one. Only thing is, it won't let me register. I've read the forums and there's like a couple of threads there asking for the "already used username" problem but the moderator didn't even give a proper answer or a solution to fix it. What a shame.

This POF site is run by a dictator who picks on random guys he does not like and boots them off. I would personally like to strangle him for deleting my account several times at the most inconvenient times.

There is no such thing as customer support, email is NEVER answered. Just run by a small minded guy who thinks he is right.

Well I hope you have good security markus because one day you might annoy the wrong guy.

The whole site is a gimmic, with all the gimmics and more gimmics. I have also noticed that you get banned a little too fast on pof. I think it would be time to take Markus down, let’s make a team.

Have met 2 fantastic women on pof and both have become very close and personnel friends of mine. Would recommend pof to anyone who would like to make friends or more. These people that complain about logging on to pof should consider picking up a real computer because pof does not discriminate. Maybe they should stop being cheap. Thank you pof for improving my love life. You’re a class act.
