@Jeanne Hi Jeanne, I won't try & retype everything I just did & it disappeared..POOF!! But, everything that happened to you, happened to me for over 2 months now. I even got Flowers for Valentine's Day... Except, he went from Fl. to California on a job, then to Australia due to his Mom dying of Pancreatic Cancer, as my DH did 2 years ago....What a Joke! Now he is supposed to be in a hospital in Australia due to an auto accident. They are requesting $6,000 for his medical bills, same as he needed for his Mother's hospital surgery. He has 2 others involved, supposed to be doctors, a Panloyd Williams & a Dr. Kyle. BTW...he has two names he goes by Ronald Buckyard/Buck Ronald, God only knows how many more.
I so wish, I had found your post earlier, as I fell for him hard, I'm so sorry to say & got burnt! We must have over lapped at some point, as I was also contacted via him at the first of Jan. 2010. I received all the LONG Love emails, Poems, Songs that would melt your heart & many phone calls. They are still trying to get more money from me. Not Happening, Once Bitten, Twice Shy!
There was also another lady by the name of Kathy, he tried it with too, She was much smarter than I was. I feel like such a fool & not sure I'll ever believe another dating site again. BTW...I did find one of his addresses in Hemet California under the name of Buck Ronald. He said, that is the home he lost to his ex wife. Who knows, he may still live there. I would Love to chat with you & compare notes on him. Does this ring a bell "Smiles"?
He was suppose to be coming to my state for 2 months, so we could finalize our relationship. Please everyone...Be careful, if it's too good to be true, It probably is.
There's good and bad everywhere, you just can't be so gullible...No photos, no fill ins then don't respond, and don't respond to "flirts" only. Sound upbeat, independent (not desperate), informed, not negative either and without going into your life history and you should be fine...It's so important to have a recent photo posted, at least one or two...Ask yourself if you'd respond to a profile w/o a photo...I know I wouldn't...Do you know how many people put up profiles w/o photos? Tons!, so what makes you so sure they're going to look at your photo less profile, unless they're scamming, of course...or married, which many are....Just be careful and don't believe everything you hear...Like one poster said, if it's too good to be true, it usually is...Be cautious, but have fun browsing anyway.
@Tina Tina - I had a guy named Charles Clarkson, who went to Africa for work, and his daughter got sick and he needed $1500 for medicine. I told him to use his Mastercard.
@LaVerne Brown Most people are nice people, but they are way too many scammers in the world. Even face to face people have to view each other with suspicion.
I was on this site for 1 day before I was contacted by all very attractive looking men. Their pictures were so polished and professional, the men looked like models. The two that interested me both had the same occupations, though located in different countries that they were working in. I thought it very strange that they would disclose to me right away how much they were worth. I dropped one and continued to chat on Yahoo with the other. He knew all the right words to say, and how to make me feel comfortable with him. But he said he had his son with him in Nigeria who was 10 years old. I thought this strange because the child should be in school. After about two weeks, he told me he was in Lagos, Nigeria and that he was ready to come home. But upon his arrival at the airport, he was hit with a fee that he had to have cash. His credit card would not work nor is ATM card. He said he went to the Embassy and they told him that was the law. Without cash money, he could not leave the country. Now after working in a country for 9 weeks building roadways and hospitals, and they will not let you leave?
I became suspicious and began to do some research on the internet. I found just what I wanted. Scammers using Yahoo for personal contact and the story about them travelling with their 10 year old sons. The next day my scammer got online, but I was ready for him. He did ask if I could send him, and this is the way he put it, 780$ and he would pay me back as soon as he got to the states. I said sure, that I was going right to the bank to get the money. He sent me all of his contact information. But the money could not be put in his name, but it had to be in his son's name. I copied this whole chat segment and saved it on a disc. After I got his info, I told him there was something I wanted to share with him. I copied and pasted the info about the airport fee (TBA or FBA) some sort of phoney fee into the chat box. Upon his reading this, this immediately ended the chat.
Ladies and men as well, do be careful. Love will find you. This was my first attempt ever to use a dating serve, and truthfully speaking, it was my last. I will wait until God places someone wonderful into my life. Take heed.
I am not very pleased with this site. There is no phone no, or address where they can be contacted. They will gladly take your payments online and then you are still not able to get onsite. It also seems everyone is either in construction or architecture. All describe themselves as being good looking and financially secure. Many men state they are only interested in older women. I think most women know what that means. They are looking for lonely, needy women to support them, because they don't have a JOB. All of us are not needy or lonely, and don't need a man to validate us. WOMEN, please be very careful here, there are a lot of scammers out there. Do not give out personal info or go to Yahoo to chat. Stay Safe.
I don't think the site itself is at fault but I do think that common sense should be used. I did not use common sense; I believed what I was told. I was taken for my money and my heart and never again. We are Senior Ladies...not Stupid Ladies....I am living by those last words by the way. When it feels too good to be true it usually is. I was used and I do not like that. I have to agree with many of the comments… What is it with the broken English and the "Car Accidents" and raising my daughter on my own...DO NOT BELIEVE IT!!!!
Ditto on Pete's comment-why is everyone trying to screw us-no contact info or anything-I am livid @pete andolina
I really would give this site a 0, but they don't offer that option. I had a very bad experience with a member of this site going by the screen name of buckronald101 and claiming to carry the name Ronald Buckyard. After several conversations with this person, claiming to be a contractor with a degree from who knows where, he began asking for money. Said he was working in Canada and had received a large check, but could not cash it until he got back to the USA. Said he needed to pay something called BTA to get out of Canada. Well, I got suspicious and began searching and to my surprise, there is nothing available on this name. Says he owns a home in Miami Beach, FL, he will even send you pictures of it, along with pictures of his Mother and deceased Father.
I searched the Miami-Dade County tax assessor’s office and no such name anywhere. I also called and tried to see if he was a licensed contractor for the state of Florida, guess what, no such name. I went even further and paid Intellius to search for him. Nothing turned up. He will call you from a cell phone out of the California area, 951 area code, the telephone search showed nothing either, except it was a cell phone. So ladies beware of a pretty face, and he is handsome, according to the picture he submitted, and beautiful poems and songs and words. He is a scam artist, and very good at it. I just turned my computer over to the FBI for an investigation of him. Now try to contact the seniorpeoplemeet website and get a refund. Won't happen. I can't even get them to return my emails. I truly don't think that there are any dating sites that really screen their members, it is just a money making racket. And boy are they making money.
Ditto on the Widowed so called rich guys wanting/needing to borrow money. The warning to not give ANYONE a DIME applies to not only this site beacause it's happened to me once on Match.com as well. NOT A DIME ladies please!
This is a farce, why do I have to give them any stars? Tell them you are going to report them to the legal authorities. That will stop them quick. Guess they think older women are stupid. What fools they are, right?
I am having the same experience. All of the men who contact me are engineers with a Master's and widowers. They ask for your email address and just talk about what they are looking for and what kind of person they are. They are all loving, goodhearted, patient etc. As if they read a magazine article about what a woman is looking for and then copy and paste it to this site. Very disappointed.
I give this site 0 stars. At first the people responding to me seemed to be fine. But I have recently received 3 back to back responses from men who all have been "widowed", whose "wives" and I quote"...died by Car Accident"...they always capitalize car and accident and the wife was always on the way home from the school where she taught (2 of these) or from "her bank".
And all of the letters are very poorly written verging on broken English, although most of them say they are Americans. Two of them have encouraged me to join Yahoo Messenger...which I will not do. Seems to be a ploy or come on just to join Yahoo Messenger.
Also, in order to view my messages and or flirts on the "free" site, I had to "Upgrade" my status which required payment by credit card. Now I keep getting a message on my profile page that my credit card is about to expire and I should upgrade my credit card status in order to maintain my Upgraded services on the site. This happened the same day I enrolled on the site. Why should that matter? It seems like they are just trying to get another of my credit cards on the site. Beware!
I signed up and was slammed with flirts. None of them could write in English-too much bad phasing to be native when they said they were. ALL wanted me to go to yahoo. Most were widowed, 1 child. Several travelled to Africa.
Total waste of time and money. Don't do it!!!
I have been charged 63.75 thru my bank account and it is posted as such for over two months and still cannot reply w/o having an upgrade solicitation. What is going on? Does the state a.g. have to be informed? How does anyone contact this ripoff site, like phone number?
Plenty of scammers and hijacked IDs there but also many, many legitimate people. Like the rest of the Internet, it's pretty much uncontrolled and full of wicked people. If you're careful - require recent photos, a complete profile that makes sense, contact only through the site - you should be OK. Just ignore all the wrong views, delete email from unlikely suitors, block and report the knuckleheads and verify everything.
Watch out for the scammers and fake profiles mostly from the USA and Ghana on here. They seem to be well prepared.
@karen
I had a very BAD experience, also with this site. They think because we are labelled 'senior' that equates to stupid! My profile was hijacked, changed, and they didn't even change the text where I spoke about my grandchildren...this girl said she was 35...and I reported it and Seniors never replied. I also spoke with several supposed 'singles' from the site, with all the same story...they were in Nigeria. I will not be renewing...they had best not auto-renew or even try! BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!
@Sophie I have had a very BAD experience with this site. My profile was hijacked, changed and the person sent a very loving intimate message to over 700 men in two days with my user name. They take no responsibility for the security of the site and several other members have had the same experience. I will not be renewing! There is a no refund policy no matter what! Buyer beware.
