SinglesNet.com

This once popular US dating site, seems to be in serious decline and the reason why isn’t clear. It now belongs to the Match.com network and it could be that users are being moved there. Whatever the cause, membership numbers have plummeted in the last few years from a peak of around 5 Million, to about 500,000 today.

They offer a free trial service and other perks, such as state of the art compatibility software. Members are also given the option to upgrade accounts. On signing up you'll be asked a few basic questions about yourself, your hobbies, educational background, occupation and your preferences in a partner. You can provide as much or as little information as you like at this stage.

Your profile can be edited at any time, so you can go back at a later time and add more information if you wish. The site recommends that you add at least two good quality photos to your profile. Many people choose to ignore profiles without photos when searching, so adding a good quality photo is a good idea if you're serious about meeting someone on the site.

After signing up, and creating a profile, you can locate and then contact other members through the zip code search or make use of the compatibility match system. Free membership gives you access to the basic functions of the site such as searching, and sending and receiving virtual winks and flirts. The site's matchmaking system also sends you profiles of members that might be compatible with you directly to your inbox. To communicate with other member via emails however, you'll need to upgrade your membership.

Upgrading your membership not only gives you full access to the site's hi-tech features but also your profile will receive a higher priority than standard members in searches, you'll be able to make full use of the matchmaking technology, and you'll receive priority online support. The company also offers a 30-day money back guarantee, if you are not completely satisfied with the service.

The features and level of service compares favorably with its equivalents such as Match.com and eHarmony. Their easy to follow design allows members to keep complete control over their online dating experience. One can talk and meet with local singles or open their horizons with members in other countries. Contact information for SinglesNet.com is displayed on their website, and member support is provided during office hours for those who experience problems or require help.

I agree, I also have friends that have been a member on singlesnet as well and we are all having issues with the site never being "up" and not "accessible". The computer freezes like the site is not responding and then when you try to log back in, the web page is not found.

I have been on this site for over six months. All of the sudden, I am unable to log into the site of Singlesnet.com. Why has this happened to me? What can I do to log onto the site again? Robashi5, May 18,2011.

This site boots you within 5 mins of signing up and you have to wait 24 hrs or more to try again. Not going to pay for this if it keeps booting ppl out!

From the very moment I logged onto this site, huge red flags started showing up. I don't know what this site is, but I really don't think this is a dating site. I think its filled with scammers, creeps, pervs, ripoff artists or just maybe a bunch of high school "hackers".

If you don't sign up and give a cc number after a few days, they ban you. You have to do some pretty elaborate things to get back on the site. Though it's possible. Then, if you start asking some "odd" questions...guess what, the new account you just made gets banned almost immediately. Even if I wanted to give them my cc (ugh!) I couldn't because they're blocking me through some sophisticated methods. Very scary! Very likely bad things will happen if you go there and sign up.

I'm reporting this to the authorities and the Better Business Bureau to see if they can find anything about. Please, don't go!? There are some gushing reviews up above, quite possible the scammers themselves posted them here. That's what I would do if I was trying to perpetuate this kind of identity theft/scam. Don't go!

I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone! The men on this site seem to care nothing but in physical appearances...not the heart or the intellectual side of a woman. You have to be realistic about appearances when you're 58~not looking like arm candy anymore-even though I do take care of myself. I agree with some posted comments about the men tricking you with "fake" photos. If you're going to advertise yourself, be fair.

What a lousy company. So I'm separated and still married. Posted that up front on my profile and the company deletes me without saying anything to me. Email requests go unanswered and a call then says to me ... "sorry bud, can't be still married. WTF? Being honest to a potential person is not what they want you to do here. Sounds like they want you to be sneaky.

Very bad experience here..someone misrepresented himself..as a 60 year old Irish widower with a 15 year old daughter..was black African..probably from Ghana..some sort of scam..didn't stick around to find out what it was about..do not give your phone# or e-mail..for any reason..people are dangerous on this site..why is this allowed..there should be some sort of way to regulate this to protect honest members from harm..

I have never signed up to this company, yet i am sent email after email daily. i have tried to "unsubscribe" but nothing happens? Probably because i never registered with them in the first place! If this company do not remove my email address i will contact the FBI because something is not right with them. They are really pissing me off!!!! Had to tick one star because they don't have a minus 1 million star!!!

This site is a real scam. Seems to be crawling with sex offenders and predators. One guy keeps popping up under different names. Immediately asks each and every female if they have yahoo messenger. If you are stupid enough to go out there, he tries to solicit you. Same guy every time, changes his name. Reported him, and I got banned! Really? Paid my money to Match.com. Still find some slime balls, but it seems cleaner.

They have criminals on their site. WATCH OUT! People use fake names and ages, a lot do not show pictures and when they do, they don't look anything like the picture. A lot of the people are NOT single, they are married. The company lies about billing proceedures.

I agree with the general sentiment in the rest of the quotes. There is something wrong with this site and it really should be investigated. It certainly is not free if you want any means of social contact. I believe that a lot of the postings do not exist and are paid singlesnet employess or computer generated profiles.

Today from my home computer, I opened to another singles net profile and got access to all his personal information when I simply googled singlesnet. This man's account was already open!! When I immediately contacted the Help desk at Singles net they assumed that I was at public computer w/ another person's account open before me. I am on a private computer alone in my own home. When I tried to send them a second message via the Help icon, it refused to allow me to send it. I emailed the individual from my gmail. I have no other means of contacting singles.net. When they email me, it is always w/ a no-reply return address. This is a huge security breach and makes me very concerned for others who's accounts may be accessed by hackers!!! Can someone from your organization contact them in some other way???? Thank you so much.

It sucks. You would think with it being Americas # 1 they would have all the bugs worked out, and since they are keen on making all paid members or the "Features" don't work, incompatible browsers,, etc. The list is long, get timed out of chat or bumped off.... I paid for a full year in advance and in less than a month too many glitches /problems, never their fault, an a easy excuse or answer! The nightly software upgrades also suck. Pointless and of waste of money. By the way it keeps asking to join/W T F.

Singlesnet.com better fix their site. It tells us to download new version and when you click on it, it will not download. This is very irritating. We pay money for this site.

I am VERY disappointed in this site! I just found out today that the "gentleman" I was corresponding with is a scammer, pretending to be an army soldier but who is not (borro) and I reported him today. Highly educated, coy, smooth talker...what makes me upset is that Singlesnet allowed him to change MAJOR information on his profile like state where he went to college, his location, etc. and NEVER caught on that it was a scammer. I did receive an immediate response from Singlesnet after I reported him but wonder if he'll even get booted off the site. Other websites make users sign an agreement that they have the legal right to download the photos that they use. I think Singlesnet should do this as well so these scammers can be pursued more legally when they steal real soldiers photos and post them as their own!!

Singlesnet is crap! It used to be cool until Match.com bought them & started charging. I use to be a popular guy in the CO chat & I just got banned for re-creating a profile to go in & say Hi to folks. Was not in there more than 5 minutes when I got banned. The site is a looser anymore & lost all the good people that use to go on there. Singlesnet claims to be #1 in 1998. OMG, that 12 years ago.

Same here....banned. I was banned from the site as well for not wanting to pay a fee. I would have paid for one month just to get email addresses of the guys I was interested in. But I can't go on at all now.
