I met my wife on it!

I joined this website about 2 1/2 years ago, and I enjoyed it. Ultimately, I met my wife on it! So I guess we are one of the ultimate success stories for the site.

Sure, I heard from lots of scammers, mostly from Nigeria and Ghana. It's pretty easy to identify them, though. First, if they send you photos that look like a professional model, you can be sure it is not the person who set up the profile. Second, I never even ONCE asked for nude photos (I am a gentleman and I respect women, regardless of where they are from) but some of them sent them to me anyway, without my asking. A few other women made sexual comments during chat sessions. I dropped all such women immediately. Third, if they make any comments about needing help with a bank transfer, cashing checks or money orders, or anything else even remotely related to money, it's a scam and I dropped them immediately.

I was very particular in what I was looking for. I wanted someone attractive, modest, Christian, aged 24-29, with a Bachelor's degree at least (and could prove it). After about 9 months of searching and chatting, I found Mekedes, a lovely young woman in Ethiopia. After we communicated for about 6 months, I went to visit her in Addis Ababa, and 6 months after that we got married. Soon we will celebrate our first wedding anniversary!

So, AfroIntroductions.com can work if you make a specific checklist of the qualities you are looking for in a mate, you learn about how to spot the fakes and gold-diggers, and you are willing to spend some time in chatting and getting to know people. I had a lot of fun with AfroIntroductions.com and I kind of miss it now that I have closed my profile. But now that I am married, it wouldn't be good of me to keep writing to other women when I am no longer available, would it?

I was on Afro Introductions for about 3 months in 2008/2009. I got several emails from seemingly nice gentlemen, but then there was this notorious guy from Uganda, "William" (resides in Fortworth, TX) who attacked me over and over again based on information on my profile. He called me a liar (though he doesn't know me and we never spoke at any one time). He went as far as calling me a prostitute. I'm a college-educated, humble Christian woman. All I was looking for was a decent, sincere relationship. I reported this to site administrators and nothing was done about it. So I deleted my profile, never to return.
