I tried the 3 day free trial. It began late on 8/27 and was supposed to expire on 8/30. On 8/29 at 11:18 pm, I initiated a cancellation request. The way to cancel is obscure. You must find and click on "Billing History" and then on a button titled "Cancel Repeat Billing". Once I found that and followed the instructions, there was a code to enter and verify and then you need to wait for another message.

Here's the message I received: "We'll send the cancellation code to the following e-mail address. "xxxxx.xxx" (my email address). The Cancellation code will arrive at your e-mail address within an hour. This code will be valid for two days."

I got the email with a cancellation just before midnight on 8/29. When I logged in just after midnight, I found I was already charged for another month, $34.99. When I entered the cancellation code, I got a message saying that I was a member for another month. When I called customer service and then wrote to them, they refused to refund the amount even though the cancellation was initiated on 8/29. They also take over 24 hours to respond to any email concerning billing.

Beware of this type of practice. If they are that anxious to bill you and not refund you, then it shows this group is generally dishonest in its dealings with the customer. The other thing to beware is the fact that a lot of the messages and winks you might receive are not always initiated by another member. When you reply, they say they did not wink at you.

This is not a legitimate site.

Same happened to me. Signed up for the trial and got charged. Wrote an email and got 3 extra months for free but no funds returned. Now I'm afraid I will have the same problem as all of you guys. Hey IO just got contacted by a woman from Ghana she says, she was in cupid and they erased her profile after she connects with me. Now she tells me she feel she loves me and she wants to exend the rest of her life with me. How crazy is that, that more crazy is that since there's nothing else to do I was chatting with her for about three hours on Yahoo Mss. Then she said give me a password and username so that I can take you out of that site and we can have more time to concentrate on our relationship. I'm like "what $@#$ relationship CU CU Cu CU". I'll tell you later what happened. I am supposed to keep in touch. I know there's going to be a point where I'm going to hear "I need help with money" has any one going thru this?

@Kimberly I just made a complaint with the BBB about this site, they have charged me over and over again for an account I already canceled. Now, no one at cupid.com (the company) will call me back, or email me. I just want a refund for all of the charges. All I wanted was the 3 day trial. After those three days I experienced so many fake winks and profiles it's not even funny. That site should be shut down. They better give me my money back!

I work in digital marketing and what I found out about these companies is that they use automated greetings when people join the site. So in my case when 30 women said hello to me, it was nice surprise but a complete surprise to these unsuspecting women. If they bill you, do not pussyfoot with them. If you cancelled before the due date for the next subscription and they still take money out of your account, go straight to your credit card provider for a chargeback and provide the email correspondence as proof. You will get your money back really quickly and it will reflect really poorly on them. The credit service may be withdrawn in the future if there are a lot of complaints.

@Arun You have to go back and click at the same place after clicking on Billing history....and then it should ask you for your cancellation code. Write to me if it doesn't work.

I agree with these posters....I joined on a temp membership and then joined again under a fictitious woman's name and profile and am now having a regular conversation with someone who doesn't exist hahaha.

@Cathy I am now in the middle of what you guys have been saying. I feel bad for all those men whose had their pictures and info stolen who honestly went on these sites looking to meet someone and had their lives used by these scammers. Is there any way we can track these poor guys down and let them know they are being used?

This sounds as if it's similar to Be2, another site to steer well clear of! Same sharp practice of cheap initial trial, but virtually impossible to cancel before the end of the trial period, and they will whip £150 out of your account as soon as you sign up. Beware!!!

Cupid.com is full of it, I signed up for three days, now I am getting a bill for one month. I called and this foreign lady answers the phone every time, sounds like the same person, saying that my bill will be cancelled. Next thing I know wham they are trying to charge me again. I am going to my bank and let them handle this.

Hi, I am currently a non-paying member of Cupid.com and I have a few questions for the people here. I was signed up by clicking on a link on Facebook. I was thinking about using the 3-day free trial to check out people that sent me e-mails. I was planning to cancel well before the 3 days were up. Is it possible to obtain the cancellation code and get them to cancel before the time is up? I have been reading the comments of people who say that the people who have contacted them didn't really contact them and I must say that I am surprised. I wondered how common this experience is for people. Should I just cancel my account now? There are women that I am interested in on the site. Should I assume that they are just fake? The complaints here have left me confused on how to proceed. P.S. I am just giving it two stars because this sites demands that you rate it.

Cupid.com is the worst dating site ever. I never signed up for it but got on it by mistake, probably when I set up my Facebook page. I started playing around on it and almost every man I chatted with was in construction, in a foreign country, Lagos Nigeria to be specific. I chatted with three of them and after two to three weeks they were asking me for money due to some crisis that occurred. After becoming familiar with the pattern when someone would give me the familiar story I would tell them the outcome about the crisis and asking for money.

Of course, they denied it. One individual got really rude and made some off color remarks to me. I reported the profile to Cupid.com and instead of going after the individual with the off color remarks they have banned me from the site. (Which is alright with me.) So in other words if you are into being scammed by foreigners in other countries and like lewd remarks, cupid.com is your dating site.

Hi - I keep getting winks from women in Ohio? Never gave them my credit card for the "Free" trial. Buyer beware! Many dating sites do this from what I understand, Match.com and eharmony. Plentyoffish is also a great site as it's free and they appear to make money on advertising (not on your back).

@Dave Well i have been on Cupid.com for about 6 months or so, i have met a lot of interesting women and they say they are in the United States but actually they are in another country because they are buying gold, art and etc. Why post that you are in the United States but actually in another country and also all of them said their parents died in a car accident when they were young. Is there any woman in the United Sates that is on Cupid? I sure would love to know? And i am being charged 39.00$ a month to find this out for myself. What the heck is really going on?

I am 42 years old and have been very happily married for many years. I have never signed up on this site, nor would I in a million years. Yet I'm getting billed $29.99 a month for the past 5 months. Sometimes it just happens to work out that you picked on the wrong person. You may know my name but you don't know who my family is....They happen to be very high government officials; I've read all the BS about this site.... Now it's time for me to copy these complaints and let my relatives, friends and the government take over and do their job. They will pull your plug so fast and you'll probably go broke; because you ARE going to pay everyone back every cent due them. I'm already calling my Dad and my Uncle. Neither one will be very happy about this situation; especially when you've taken money fraudulently from my Father's daughter and all those other people. See you in Washington and not the State. Also if this is deleted or retouched in any way there will be one more charge to add to the sheet of charges against your business practices now. I expect an immediate reply to these comments, I'll give you 24 hours. Remember, don't remove it.
